I'd trade having overkill damage for enough safety and utility to have no hard weaknesses.

Let me preface this for people who automatically think I'm talking about fucking Ahri. No, she isn't the only one I'm talking about. Also no, I am not calling her overpowered or anyone else overpowered or anyone else underpowered. Understood? Then let's go on.

So my goal is to kill a squishy enemy carry with next to no resistances above base and runes.

Option 1: Pick someone that can do several times their entire health pool of damage, but have clear hard weaknesses in return for that extremely powerful damage output.

Option 2: Pick someone that can do only their one health pool's worth of damage and no more (but it's still enough to always 100-0 them), but have enough safety and utility to not have any large weaknesses anywhere.

I wonder who I'd pick.

People make the argument that the champion in Option 2 has less damage than the champion in Option 1, but who gives a shit? It doesn't matter when either of the champions could always 100-0 their intended target if they can get their combo off. And the second champion can almost always get their combo more reliably off, as well as have safety and utility for themselves. The first champion has monstrously high damage, so of course they shouldn't be able to reliably get their combo off. Which means it's less reliable for them to even do their job.

Again, just as a reminder, I'm not complaining about any one specific champion, to those who automatically think I'm talking about just fucking Ahri alone. She isn't the only one in the second category. There are lots of champions under the second category. I'm also not saying either is broken or underpowered. That's not even the point I'm making. I'm saying it's the reason why champions that fall under the first group are generally underfavored as compared to champions that fall under the second group.

But what's the point of ever playing someone in the first category then? This is an honest question. I don't see the point of getting to have excess damage that means nothing anyways when I lose out on safety and utility and reliability for the actual intended niche of my champion type in the first place.

you just have the damages to 100-0 him ? then he buy item 1033 item 1028 item 1029 one of these and you dont kill him anymore. Or one of his allies shield him, heal heal, it doesnt matter.

And what's exactly 100-0 someone ? At which point of the game ? When you are ahead ? behind ?

The excess in damages are usefull because you do not ALWAY have a squishy target to kill. Sometimes you are facing a rather tanky team with shields, or they will itemize against you.

IE : there's no point building a single malmortius as ADC vs a fed veigar, he'll shred through if he can combo you, you will not even see the purple shield popping, you better take a mercurial to escape the cage if you ran into it.

If there's a fed malphite it's another story.

the second option pretty much covers all "utility mages" lol.

Why play Veigar or Karthus who are purely damage oriented when there are champions who fulfill the same role while also having tons of team utility or being far safer about it. Or both.

it's gotten very messy

What people don't understand is that you can beat an Ahri by building tanky...or they just don't care. So her winrate doesn't ever suffer.

The 1 st options. Why would you play that champion. Because I love Mordekaiser as a champion. honestly though sometimes that's not good enough of a reason for me. It used to be but it gets tiring

Don't worry. Few assumed that. Also mandatory lennyface.
