Just saying, that pre-rework malz wasn't as much of a problem as post-rework malz.

But riot will refuse to revert him, despite the design being impossible to make small power adjustments.

I think the bigger issue is balanceing a champ around the fact that his mostpowerfull tool can be emoved by one item. Malzahar is pretty busted, mostly because of the 2.5sec point n click lockdown, and he becomes pretty usless as soon as his targets get QSS. Such hardcounter scenarios just lead to unhealthy, binary gameplay, eother malz has a ult and is opressive, or you have QSS and he's borderline useless.

malzahar would be easier to balance if he was countered easier as more of his power could be put into his other abilities than his ultimate

I have been pondering the need for an AP build out of QSS for about a year now.. The question is how to make it a worthwhile buy without also making every AP assassin (to say nothing of the smurfgod) utterly broken in the process.

Maybe less of an AP item and more of a utility buy? Something like movespeed, MR, and mPen (what on earth would it build out of?).
