"Amazing year for the creative team, absolutely horrendous for the monkeys that balance the game"

This is a quote from a comment on Riot's newest YouTube video, "2018: The Playlist | League of Legends".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrVzxiAtFQU

While I wouldn't go as far as insulting Riot's employees, I can relate.

I love this massive and creative world League of Legends has created. Cinematics, all kinds of artwork and especially music left me breathless and gave me goosebumps for so many seasons now. This video is amazing as well.

For five years straight, League used to be my favorite game, until season 8 hit the servers and everyone started oneshotting each other. I enjoy anything about this game - anything but actually playing it. This is making me sad.

It isn't?

It isn't. S2 and S3 were times of DFG, Flat armor pen items, 40% ArPen on 2300g last Whisper, and other completely busted items. Currently you don't have toys like these.

I recall killing people with old Swains DFG+E+Q only, deleting people with Talons aa+Q, one-shotting people with Shaco Q, one-shotting with only Veigar ult, having more than 1k AP on any mage, one-shotting people with SotD Rengar, etc. Damage was just NUTS in s2-s3 (idk about s1, didn't played back then).

Back in the days damage was on par with current damage, i'd say it was even higher back then. Damage started to go down only after s3.

Lethality, loss of stats on defensive items, nerfed shields, true damage from Conqueror, Dark Harvest. While nothing can compare to old Nidalee in her primetime (Zoe comes close, and only if she hits with her sleep), damage is still incredibly high. Zed with Duskblade and LB's whole kit kills everything, except tanks. And even then, tanks have to be ahead to survive meeting in mid game. Add to this continual loss of vision in games, thanks to, among other things, aforementioned Duskblade.

Pure damage might be a bit lower. But defensive options have gone down, resulting in current mess.

Damage is high, im not denying that. The point is, that a lot of people on boards think that past seasons were great or whatever, but after doing a little research you can tell that s2-s3 were really similar to current times when it comes to damage.

When it comes to itemization, the only classes which were truly hit are the bruisers and tanks. Let's be honest. Current tank items SUCK, especially when it comes to stacking them. But it's not like back in the days mages or ADCs were building more than one of these (usually they build 0).

Pure damage is a bit lower, while defensive options for tanks/bruisers went hard down, and for others went... idk, kind of up, kind of down. Let's remember than back in the days QSS always took an item slot, nowadays ADCs can build from it a pretty decent item

No matter how often you come along with your 'choo choo' comment, damage is absolutely higher than it was in seasons 2 and 3.

No it's not, it's higher than seasons 4 and 5, but i think you remember seasons 2 and 3 incorrectly if you seriously think that it wasn't bursty

I miss the days when a Mage needed Void Staff to kill a 3700 hp, 200 MR Tank.

Certainly not now a days.

I miss the days when tanks did their job: Tank. Too bad they've been forced into a cc class, making it almost near impossible to rebalance them.

It is NOT an insult if it's just an agreed-upon fact. Rito Game's "balance" team are by far amongst the lowest-quality of workers I've ever seen a gaming company employ. This is not new. Their shoddy changes to the game have been occurring for at least 6 seasons now, as far as my own observations of the game go.

Furthermore, when there is an ESPECIALLY BAD update that goes to Live, it is almost always the exact same persons that slap their name onto said update. Whether it be CertainlyT pumping out an overloaded kit or Fearless creating yet another unplayable piece of shit in his spotless record of abysmal failures. Yet because Rito Game literally has no employee management (a fact they publicly confirmed in their public apology to the sexual abuse convictions,) these people are ALLOWED to continue repeating the exact same mistake over and over and over.

I can't fathom to understand the logic behind letting Fearless continue to work at Rito after he made Sona unplayable in patch 4.13, which she still continues to be a dumpster fire to this day, still as a direct result of Fearless castrating her. Then he was allowed to make jungling literally impossible in pre-season 5, which required half a year's worth of patches just to fix his massive fuck up. Then he made jungling impossible YET AGAIN in pre-season 6 & then fucked with it some more in pre-season 7. When does it end? In the meantime he was also allowed to fuck around on the ADC & "juggernaut" updates, which everyone is aware were overall failures as well.

This is the type of company Rito is. Nobody should be surprised by it at this point. Hell, Rito "balance" team don't even call themselves "balance" anymore, because they aren't even trying to hide the fact they don't actually do any balancing! They have made it very apparent in no subtle way that they are INTENTIONALLY changing the game solely based on their own biases & prejudices! Meddler REFUSED to nerf Brand when the whole community demanded it, because he is a Brand main himself! Meddler denies the FACT that enchanters are outclassed by Mage "supports," because he himself firmly abuses Mages in the support role! That is a blatant conflict of interests, but there's nobody to stop him & the other "balance" employees from fucking up the game, because Rito doesn't actually manage their own employees!

Thank you, than exactly hits the point. If i do a bad job at work for once, ok. But if ill do a bad job frequently i, like everyone else, will get fired. Except of Riot employees of course, that in fact are banning all critism instead. Like a ostrich hitting his head into the sand...

To be fair, i think we used to have more damage back in season 4 after the update to armor pen. HOWEVER, we got access to that damage later in the game.

Not to mention that we have a LOT of true damage and CDR available to us everywhere today, and almost every non-marksman item in the game grants health to counteract that. So we get a whole lot more stat check 2 second duels to the death than we used to in the past.

And they thought old Aatrox was bad enough. Just try and fight a Trynd now and see how that works.

I am new, and leagues balance is terrible fact. Matchmaking is another thing also. I found this out in the first week of league. I wont spend money on league.

Fact

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
