Zhonya's Hourglass

Can we change Zhonya's hourglass? Either lower the price back to 3000 or give it more stats? AD champions have SO many resources like life steal or hexdrinker or qss and the only real defensive item ap champions have is zhonyas. It was nerfed twice in these past 6 months and with AD assassins so strong I feel like it would be more fair for ap champs to be able to have some defensive options earlier.

It isn't a terrible item but it just straight up is too expensive for the little stats it provides compared to what AD champions have and it takes way too long to build because it is way more expensive than it should be.

I think Hourglass is fine, and if there's any problem, you should fix the root of it.

I just had a look at item builds on champion.gg for the AP midlaners with the highest playrates. I thought this would give me an idea of how useful Zhonya's is currently.

Of the 10, 9 have Zhonya's in their "most frequent" build, 8 have it in their "highest win %" build - only Leblanc and Anivia don't.

This suggests that Zhonya's is at least good enough to be picked up by a large number of champions. Its use is not limited to certain champions with good synergy.

I then had a look at champions that I think should have good synergy with Zhonya's. Fizz, TF (perhaps), Ekko, Diana, Kassadin, Katarina, Morgana, Lissandra, Akali, Heimerdinger, Kennen, and, of course you have to add in jungle Fiddles. I chose these champions because they all need to be in the fight to do their job. Except perhaps TF. All but TF build Zhonya's within their first 3 items (excluding boots) and from a purely win rate perspective, only Akali is really suffering.

This suggests that champions who "rely" on Zhonya's haven't been hurt too much by the nerfs, except for Heimerdinger, who traditionally has a much higher win rate than 51%.

I therefore do not think that Zhonya's needs a buff.
