No reason why a ranged champion can't buy it. Thats like saying Diana can't get a rylai's since she is melee, or Cho', because he is a melee champ. A champion shouldn't be not allowed to get an item because it gives them a huge power spike.

He's not squishy in that sense, but any character worth their salt will build Armor or Magic Pen naturally and those defense stats will mean nothing if he doesn't have a lot of HP to back it

The main issue is that Ezreal has long range, but once you burn his E you can catch him. Iceborn Gauntlet removes that one weakness and all of a sudden he's kiting the likes of Udyr, Volibear, and in some cases Riven.

Balancing a champion around using a niche item is not fair.

Ezreal is the only ranged champion that consistently buys it.
