calling it now. you've all been warned.

OPPORTUNISTIC AND GAME HEALTH CHAMPION UPDATES We’ll be doing more updates like the recent Shyvana and Alistar ones in 2017. Unlike most of our other recent champion updates, these small to medium-sized updates are one-offs, aimed at developing an underutilized part of a champion further and/or addressing game health problems that don’t require the scope of a full VGU to be fixed. While we’ve always done some of these, they’ll be more of a focus during 2017 than previously, with more resources devoted to them.

we dont want small scope reworks, they're just an excuse to gut what you dont want around anymore without actually putting in real work to fix the core issues at hand.

go big or go home. sion/warwick or bust. dont be lazy.

notice any problems.... how about with these champions?

Akali Chogath KogMaw Nunu Skarner

just go ahead and dont do what it is you're thinking about.

predicting riot wants to drop the hammer onGalio Amumu Blitzcrank DrMundo Gragas Kassadin Malphite Nidalee Sejuani Tryndamere Volibear XinZhao without making any real or significant changes, or ones which immediately become gross and then nerfed into the ground exactly like sion.

You are the definition of a boosted monkey. I've been reading through some of your comments and I have to say you have 0 idea what you're talking about. Older champions are getting reworks/re-releases because the kits they shipped with 8 years ago are no longer relevant to how the game has changed. Look at Warwick and his update for example. Old Warwick had no CC outside of ult making his ganks total crap and had no form of survivability after he went in. New Warwick has an AOE fear on his E plus damage reduction on his E as well allowing him to survive and actually gank pre-6. His new ult is now more terrifying than his old one because of how far he can leap at you from, yes it can miss but that's just part of its tradeoff for making it a better ability. You say "Riot is lazy for doing reworks on older champions because they can't balance the older abilities", that's half true half false. When they nerf/buff abilities they have to look at how it affects the champion as a whole. Older champions are harder to balance because the abilities Riot gave them years ago were pretty much "this sounds about right for what this champion is about" compared to current day rework/new champion standards that have teams dedicated to making sure the abilities actually work with the champion's theme and are not to boring. That being said, they are far from lazy because it takes a lot of time and effort to remake champions like Warwick and Yorick to give them a kit that can survive the game years after their releases, but still stay true to their unique qualities. Warwick >> blood hunter, gets stronger the more wounded the prey is Yorick >> grave-digging soul shepard, manipulates the dead as ghouls to swarm the enemy Riot did a great job on both of those champions, both fit their themes perfectly while remaining true to who they were kit wise.

spell it out for me. what are they going to do to make them better than they already are, are certain champions outliars? do you feel any one champion is over performing or under performing? when you play a champion does it feel like some abilities dont make sense to even put points into or they just dont quite hit the mark?

do you know what they'll do to stand alone OP abilities? gut them or add mobility, those are the only options riot sees.

thats why riot kept the names of the champs anon and so they can slip it by us without actually telling us, because the last thing they want is speculation or the champion supporters banding together and bash in their bad idea.

They aren't the government trying to hide deep dark secrets from us. Honestly this part of what you're saying doesn't even make sense. "that's why riot kept the names of the champions anon", when did they ever do that? They have a release schedule that anyone can look at anytime they want. They directly ask players "What about this champion do you like and think we should keep" before they even directly work on a champion, then after they show us what they are we give them feedback to help fix them.

any1 get a preview of those alistar changes? yeah me neither.

i just love it when riot takes feedback from PBE testers and rolls with it. rengar - NB3 - Broken, hella OP, redmercy - OP, dumb, brofesco - fun times ahead, nerfs coming immediately, this is insane, i dont believe this is happening.

Ralanr2 votes

Yeah, on the PBE.

You think Riot is going to ask this fucking community on what changes should go through in a rework? We're all a bunch of salty idiots! We are terrible for advice!

Very Hard Engage1 votes

tons of advice poured in for veigar after the gutting in 5.4, its just that all of it meant new never before seen abilities and a total rework.

you can go ahead and call it crap but its nothing we wouldn't expect from riot at this point or something simple that we go "well why hasn't something like this already been added"

Shuyin1781 votes

Lets be honest, the Alistar changes were great. He felt so much more fun after that. They changed his kit slightly and it paid off big time.

"Nerfed into the ground"

Sion is boasting one of the highest win rates he's ever had, with higher than 50% in support and jungle, and almost breaking even in top lane. He's one of the most formidable tanks late game, with extreme mid game scaling with abilities, able to do significant damage without building any. His changes were underwhelming at first, and then they fixed some of his numbers, and now he's stronger than he's ever been.

nerfed into the ground exactly like sion.

You probably suck at Sion since he is really powerful.

not every champ needs a VGU

galio is being reworked by SolCrushed though (did Yorick and Poppy) so you can abandon hope anyway

Very Hard Engage1 votes

they dont need new abilities period

dont even look at "VGU" thats what they want you to think "Oh its getting an update it must be old and out of date or flawed", instead think of it as "were giving them new abilities because the ones they have are too hard to balance"

Ralanr2 votes

Galio does. He's a melee champion with a kit that doesn't encourage any melee interaction until six. And that involves him going into the enemy team to catch all of them for the best results.

This is a guy with two ranged AoE damaging abilities for his waveclear basics.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

so because you dont understand his strengths and play to them or because he doesn't play in a traditional mage or tank method, that automatically means hes bad.

even though people find ways to make him work. even in both challenger and bronze

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkFUK46_t7s

the kit does revolve around R giving him limited windows of opportunity. however during those limited windows come great game changers with extreme turn potential, just what the game needs to end the early game or FF mentality.

Ralanr4 votes

Except he's supposed to function as a midlane tank and not this burst mage. His kit doesn't fit his intended theme of a guardian at all.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

and thats why you dont play galio or perform well on him at all.

but imaqtpie a challenger player finds great success taking him as a burst mage instead. build options will be removed and he will be relegated to "mid lane tank only" after his "update" (gutting)

see morde or veigar.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

"supposed to..." yeah you're wrong, stopping you there.

riot back in the day was smart, they gave old champions dual roles and build options. remember AP Tryndamere MasterYi Sion , yeah me neither, "properly gutted"

new riot has this mentality every champion does 1 thing and only 1 thing.

sion, perfect example, had 3 roles, ad bruiser/life drain, tank, or raw AP burst. now hes tank only.

current galio still has an options as a tank.

S0kaX1 votes

You do realize you can still build AP Sion and destroy the enemies with E and W, right?

Very Hard Engage1 votes

show me.

S0kaX2 votes

I'm not searching an AP Sion video just to show you that AP Sion is powerful, you can search if you want to confirm it.

...

Dude in what universe was AP Tyrnd, Yi, or Sion a good idea or healthy for the game?

Very Hard Engage1 votes

it was meant to be an option, not their primary function, but something to consider for variety and potential.

Dude in what universe was Singed a good idea or healthy for the game?

it does nothing but indirectly manage waves. offers extremely little team fighting potential, and is a primary annoyance "you have a kite counter or you dont"

but here it is, something we all know and love and consider to be a noob check, dont chase the singed.

dont get me wrong i have nothing but respect for singed mains. love singed as is. but if he were to change, what would you expect from him?

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

Yeah, completely broken and stupid damage "options" once they became meta totally wasn't their primary function.

At least Singed murders you by making you chase him, and he actually does it slowly, instead of one shotting you like AP Tyrnd.

? When did they ever say they were going to look at Kassadin again??? Pretty sure they think he's fine and more balanced than he's ever been. Maybe a VU, but not gameplay.
