Next season, can bruisers get some of their survivability back?

Damage is really high across the board, and it feels like a lot of traditional bruisers don't have the tools to survive it.

Bruisers used to be be very strong in early and mid game skirmishes, but they fell off in late game team fights. That made sense.

It's still technically true that they are at their strongest in the mid game. But they fall off much earlier now. They still do plenty of damage, but they die too fast to do their jobs.

I know everyone is complaining about marksmen right now, and they're definitely part of the problem for bruisers. But it's other classes too.

Mages (like cass, Azir, Kat) are tearing them apart at the twenty minute mark.

And the assassin update, which made the class worse at killing squishies, actually made them a lot stronger against bruisers, since their new delayed damage/sustained DPS is (understandably) higher than their old instant burst. A perfect example is Kha'zix, who gave up burst damage on his isolated Q in exchange for a practically non-existent cooldown.

Right now, I can build straight tank, and watch my damage become irrelevant past twenty minutes. Or I can build actual bruiser items, and play split push//PvE the entire game because a late game hyper carry who isn't even fed is already melting me at level 11. (Obviously I'm exaggerating a little, but there really isn't a lot of in between).

I'm a long time fan of bruisers, but I can't bring myself to play them this season. I know balance happens in cycles--can this next season be a cycle where bruisers are able to team fight at twenty minutes again?
