Anyone else feeling like Leona is weaker?

With the damage nerfs to all of her abilities and the only compensations being a little longer root time and bonus magic damage on strike after ulting, I feel like she doesn't perform quite as well as she did for some reason.

To be honest the longer root time is hardly noticable, while the bonus magic damage on strike is so little it's rather meaningless as building tank on Leona, (like you should be doing,) doesn't really give you the AP needed to make the passive worthwhile.

Over all though, it feels like they shifted her burst damage for a little bit more damage throughout the fight, which she still doesn't really have.

Her early game is kinda suffering right now for me, but she feels a little better once she gets into late game

I'm going to try some new builds with her and see what I can do to adjust to the changes.

What are everyone else's thoughts?

While I haven't played it yet it appears that they traded damage for utility. Her Q got a what, 2 second cd reduction at all ranks? That seems pretty nice. So less blow you up for more teamfight peel.

Yeah having 40% cdr lets you get her Q off every three seconds now, with a 1 second stun you technically can have a single person unable to do anything every two seconds.

But as the teams (usually) only form of hard engage how the heck am I supposed to peel for the back line!?

Ok, so this comes down to a situational thing. Sometimes you need pure engage and sometimes your only role is to peel. Covering all of these is an all but impossible task.

So lets set up this situation. Both teams are evenly matched and both adcs are the highest dmg members of your teams. You are your teams main/only engage. However after you engage the enemy (lets say shyvana) always goes for your adc and can kill them in about 3 seconds.

You use E and Q + W on the enemy adc to engage for your team. If your team can't instantly kill the enemy carry you ult them. After the carry is dispatched you need to save your adc so that your team retains their carry. Ideally you still have your ult and can ult them before moving back and Qing the Shyvana. With the new R aa enhance this is easier as your Q has more range.

However you often need to burn ult on the engage, with decent cdr and possibly a dead mans plate you can either E to Shyvana again, with a longer root duration before Qing her or just try catching up to her in time, possibly blowing exhaust.

With 40% cdr Q has a 3 sec cd + 1 sec cc which should be plenty to peel off anything. E cd would be pretty short with that too.

This is assuming you need to both engage and peel of course. Each fight is different after all.

Also shout out to the OP for providing that cd statistic.

basically she has less all in potential at early ranks, and shes less snowbally now in favor of not being one rotation and done in a team fight setting. you just have to adapt to that and realize your level 2 all in isn't as OP as it used to be.

the issue is that leona offers nothing else other than her all-in, no poke, no shield/heal or buff, no ranged cc, only all in lockdown+burst. If that isn't threatening enough, she'll just be a push over in lane. And she still doesn't do alot more in teamfights, lower Q cd is nice, but the lowered damage on her W+passive is very noticeable once she gets to her second rotation in a teamfight while her new ult on-hit isn't that strong+it's nearly impossible to use all 5 charges within the 5 sec as leona due to the lack of mobillity and as

Everyone also seems to forget her mana costs too...they aren't trivial. Good luck sticking to your target when you run through your mana in the first rotation.

yea, especially the lowered W damage hurts her alot. And mostly, those changes prettymuch kill her off-roles. Toplane her trades and waveclear are alot weaker and she prettymuch has to put all her cards on a level 6 all-in or jungle ganks, while befor she could trade pretty well vs most toplaners. And in jungle, her clearspeed that never was great is now just so low that she's hardly viable... The lower cd on Q is nice, but she lacks the mobillity to really use it on the imprtant targets. I'd prefer a lowered E cd over a longer E root duration, or the ms on passive procs that she once head on pbe, so you can really make use of the low q cd.

at this point i kinda wish she could proc her own passive on jungle mosters, even if it only did half damage to them... cause I love leona and I almost exclusively play her as a jungler (used to top/midlane her in seasons 3-4 but now she just can't compete with any meta laner anymore)

If you're talking in comparison to the last patch where she got Q and E buffs for free then yes she is and should be less powerful.

She's supposed to be weaker, she had a 55% win rate last patch.

I will say that Leona went from a mostly team-dependent support to a "if you don't have a team playing around me I will be completely useless" support. She is no longer a solo queue champion and requires incredible coordination to make work. I like the cc-bot status but I think she traded a bit too much for it.

Dnt think I can take her top now.

he was always a challenge for me top, now I think I'm only going to be able to take her support.

Are you kidding me? Triforce+Titanic full tank(make sure you get 40% CDR) is freaking amazing, played it on the PBE and you deal tons of damage, stuns all the time and tank as hell

I always like having Leona on my team, but I hate seeing her on the other team. I always felt like her damage was too high and she reached a damage spike quicker than I could as an ADC. I'm happy with the damage nerfs, but I don't like the direction they took her ult in.

Sticking to targets is something best suited to another support. Leona IS supposed to all in every 6-10 seconds. Not all in and stick to the target forever.

They lowered all her cds, and increased her CC duration. How is that not a buff?

Embertine2 votes

You may need to read the patch notes again.

The only cooldown they lowered was on her Q. She received damage nerfs on both her passive and all of her abilities.

The only compensation was a slightly long root duration and magic damage on strike when she gets her ult off.

Rioters have said that they did want to be conservative on tuning these changes as Leona in 6.13 was looking a little too strong.

Good, leave her in the trash, the's toxic as fuck to play against.
