So the whole Sona having E up forever thing....

Mega Annie X··38 votes·2,059 views

Anyone else think this is just a straight up terrible decision?

Its bad enough her trade is insane but having a 500 MS sona zooming in and out of fights the whole time is cancerous.

Its like Udyr with auras and long guns.

and 900ms udyr wasnt?

Id rather have sona than udyr, tyvm.

Considering she is still incredible squishy all you have to do is catch her and kill her so yeah I don't mind she fly like a butterfly and die like one

Considering how few tools she has to keep herself alive otherwise (basically just her ult), I think it's perfectly reasonable.

Now let's just have a Sona following an Udyr around. Why did my eye just started twitching?

I think her movement speed ability, prior the change, was relatively weak and usually the spell most Sona's maxed last.

I don't mind having her zip around in the late game because if she gets touched, she dies or has to use her ultimate to disengage.

Building full AP sona, in order to get very high movement speed, really makes her even more susceptible to getting killed. Any assassin can kill her in one rotation of their abilities and can get strong off her deaths in team fights.

Most players still don't max out the movement speed early, and if it goes to late game where damage is extremely high on most carries, I don't mind her having higher mobility to avoid danger and to ward. Warding with Sona still feels pretty dangerous compared to other supports and having higher mobility significantly helps in that regard.

Prior the changes I mained Sona if I had to support. She was banned so often, I had to pick up other supports (more tank-like ones).

read auras as anus, whoops.

Agree though. It's ridiculous how fast she can go.

As a Sona main- no, I don't see a problem with it.

It doesn't work like that for allies, it falls off when struck, and Sona's so incredibly squishy that if you catch her she's dead. It's not like it's Udyr or someone.

They just nerfed it, and besides, if she gets caught she's probably dead. I don't see why one of the squishiest champs in the game HAS to be slow.

Correction: THE squishiest champ in the game.

Of course, Rito could also just stop making themselves intentionally look stupid and instead give her 335 movespeed like she SHOULD have, but that would be too logical of a decision for Rito to implement.

they tried to make it a good roaming spell by increasing the ms duration to 7 seconds, but making it down to 3 seconds if she takes damage, you feel it lasts forever because in late game she has almost no cooldown, unless in fight you don't damage her.

Hit her, and problem solved.

I think it should be a fast boost of movespeed for significantly less time

She is WORSE than Janna only difference is she spends mana to move like 10000000000000000 mph but still... who cares when u build item 3028 and item 3092 or item 3100 having movespeed that scales on AP is troll. unless its Nami cause unlike Lulu Janna and Sona she actually has to buy boots. lol

Ironic, since out of those four Nami is the only one without feet.

Boot, hat, what's the difference?

Warlord Zudane1 votes

Hats. There are 2 boots, so it's double the hat!

Count Zubat1 votes

I'm pretty sure there's only one boot. The icon shows only one. If there were two, the icon would show both, like with Phantom Dancer. We know these are 2 identical blades thanks to the icon. Same way we know there's only one boot.

Thanks, now I'm picturing Master Yi hopping along on one foot at Mach 12.

AP scaling movement speed was Riot's attempt at creating "rewarding supports" who dind't need to buy sightstone and utility items. It gaves them the incentive to buy damage items and suse that to help their support job.

That is also the reason Lulu, Janna and Sona have gotten so many nerfs in their history.

I feel like the answer is nonlinear scaling. They've shown with Jhin that they are willing to use some more complex math, so how about scaling something logarithmically? Large gains for the first bits of AP but it would give increasingly smaller gains with more AP but always still give benefit.

CeexSett3 votes

It shouldn't be that hard to do, since movement speed buffs7debuffs and resistances have been non-linear scaled since the beggining of the game.

The problem is, if it is too rewarding in the beggining, they just get 1 heavy ap item and then utility items.

You mean as fast as Teemo?

Mega Annie X2 votes

oh hell no. teemo stands no chance vs sona movespeed.

1011001110001 votes

Teemo can regualrly reach that speed with his passive W. :^|

Jasiwel1 votes

Can we have neither do that? While MS-based gapclosers have typically been less painful to deal with for the majority of players, there does reach a point where the MS is way too much.

Sona needs some intuitive gameplay that requires more than constantly pressing buttons. IMO, she's starting to have similar problems that we see with Karma's balancing.

Mandang01 votes

I was really hoping Riot would help her W out instead of her E when they changed her awhile back. As it is, Sona's still in this weird jack of all trades place, but with an AOE stun ult... for reasons.

AWildAPKalista1 votes

Yet that ult is also one of the worst ults of all supports, had its range and width both nerfed despite this fact and still has a longer cooldown than similar(but stronger) ults like Annie's and Bard's. Let's also not forget she's still the only mainstream support in the entire game without a reliable pre-6 CC.
