Help me learn assassins better pls!

Hey so I need help learning how to play assassins. Really the only assassin I can play is Ekko. I feel like I'm in danger alot of the time when I play them. Which is why I like Ekko because I have a get out of jail free card with his ult if I need one which gives me the confidence to go in when needed. But on other assassins like Talon or Zed I bitch out and am scared to go in when I could pick up an easy kill on an overextended enemy and I can't roam properly because of this. I play mostly mages so diving in just scares the hell out of me. How can I get past this fear?

A mage main who bothers to learn assassins and admits openly the weakness the majority of them have?

Wow never thought I would see the day.

Will give a in detail explanation later, just posting now to remind myself to do so.

Trial and error, you are afraid to fuck up and thats what is keeping you from learning. Go play some games as assassins, you might feed your brains out for awhile, but at least you will learn your limits, and when to and when not to go in.

TLDR; dont be afraid to fail if you learn from it.

you need to understand how the enemy does damage for a assassin all in.

lets say you are almost any assassin vs a mage, how does mage do damage, spells. so dodge, bait, or wait till they use spells on minions and all in.

I would recommend not caring about dying and just all in, and go for the 1 for 1. because you also need to know how to do your damage, and how much you do.

you can just balls to the wall all in, but just dont balls to the wall the entire time, because then you will get ganked

I think you'll move past this with some experience. Messing up isn't the worst thing in the world; a lot of times, the only way to learn is by failing spectacularly.

When playing assassins, knowing when to go in is often the hardest thing. If you go in too soon, you'll get CCd and blown up. It varies from champion to champion, but often you want your initiator to start a fight, and then your job is to go in on the priority target once they blow a couple key CDs. Ekko's a bit different, since he's actually a very strong initiator, but if you play something like Zed or Khazix, you should be looking for that secondary initiation on the priority target, and then cleaning up afterwards.

Assassins are supposed to kill priority targets. If you are able to kill the adc and mid lane carey or non beefy fed target you have done good.

Pay attention to enemy resistances and learn item break points. I know that with Sorc boots Abyssal and Death cap on Diana with Thunderlords proc I will drop most people to 1/3 health with a full combo if not kill them outright depending on their items and runes. Learning how to play assassins is spamming normals with them and seeing how your damage rotation goes out and learning how to set up picks in solo queue and flanks for team fights if you are playing in a group.

As a Talon main, here's the basics of playing him. I could give tips on Zed or Kha'Zix, but I'll let others do that.

Talon is a champion that takes little time to learn, but a lot of time to master. Practice him in custom games, starting at Beginning level bots but then go to Intermediate. Work on the combos. Early game for him is essential. If he gets bullied out of lane, he can't snowball, and he'll kinda useless. But if he can, then you'll be an unstoppable monster.

Upgrade his W first. It is an amazing waveclear, it is nice to poke, and you can use it as an escape/chasing tool due to its slowing effect. Later on, when you have Ravenous Hydra, the W coupled with this will destroy so many minions.

Then go for his E. You probably won't need it yet, but always have it ready.

The W and Q are first priority, then the E.

Now for the diving.

Don't just rush in when they're at full health. Early game, you have to farm minions using your W while also hitting the enemy at the same time. Once you've poked them down a bit, make sure both your Summoner Spells are at the ready just in case. Don't make it obvious, and also be sure that you are about in the middle of the lane to avoid turret fire. Make it look like you're about to farm, but then use your E on them. Your damage against them will be increased for a bit, so immediately use your Q. This will deal enough damage to scare the shit out of them. As they're starting to run back to their turret, aa them, use your W, and keep aaing until they reach the turret. If they come back, attack them. If they recall, don't tower dive. Let them recall so you can farm. That way, you'll be able to snowball.

Using your Ultimate:

Your ult is mainly used in three different ways.

-An escape tool. [Invisibility and increased movement speed, very helpful]

-Going in. [Ult beforehand, and then use your E. They won't see you, and that will help a lot.]

-Damage. [This is my main usage of it. Poke them down, then ult in their face. If the blades shooting out don't kill them, then when they converge, that will. If not, it will still do a lot of damage. While you're invisible, keep on hitting them.]

Itemization:

In Order:

Starting: item 1055 item 2003 item 3340

Full Build By The End (In Order):

item 1055 item 3158 item 3074 item 3117 item 3147 item 3026

Note

If the game gets dragged out, replace Doran's Blade with Black Cleaver, Bloodthirster, or Maw of Malmortius.

Honestly though, it just takes practice not to freak out.

In case it wasn't a given, the Summoner Spells recommended for Talon would be summoner 4 and summoner 14

Hope that helped! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)
