@Meddler, context on the Shen nerfs on the PBE?

I'm wondering what you're aiming to hit with Shen. Hopefully it's not his ability to survive in lane.

I'm also stumped by this completely random nerf. Shen is by no means strong, he's actually on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to top-laners. If they really think his ultimate is too problematic for competitive play, they should focus on changing that aspect of his kit instead of nerfing his already subpar sustain in lane.

You can't nerf the strengths of the champion. That removes the reason to play that champion. Instead, you focus on shaving off unintended power or creating more defined weaknesses outside of the strength.

This change is likely meant to force Shen to back more often, which makes him use Teleport to get back to lane more often, so he has it up less for fights and actually has to burn ult to help people out.

Shen already got his sustain removed, and he has one of the lowest scaling armor values in the game.

But that's his strength, being able to ult an ally, help that fight, and TP back to lane is why you pick him.

This is both hilarious and embarrassing.

It's not about what they're nerfing. It's that they're nerfing Shen of all people.

I can't help but think this happened because I gave them my piece on the Shen rework (in a recent survey) and mentioned the only stat they didn't nerf was his health regen.

Yep they are buffing Zyra and vayne and they are nerfing Shen. I would really like to have a crack at whatever the hell the balance team is smoking.

Don't.

That stuff is radioactive.

Probably aimed more for competitive play.

Shen might be strong in Korea. No idea though and it's hard to find out without knowing where to look. Apparently, according to OP.GG, he had the second highest pickrate with a 50% Winrate in KR. It's still an odd nerf, but I'm guessing Riot wants to be careful for competitive given he has a global ult and his skills can decide team fights.

On LolKing, he's apparently more favored in Masters+, hitting a 9-12% pickrate with relatively high winrates. Of course, as is usual with Masters winrates, he ping-pongs every couple of days, but it's an interesting graph to examine.

Dude. Anything is strong when it comes to Korea.

See you next month when AD Bruiser Galio support becomes god tier in Korea.

Jasiwel1 votes

True, but that doesn't disqualify my point. Remember that Viktor was seen as barely viable over here for a while, but had like a 16% Pickrate and a lot of competitive play in KR.

Riot doesn't balance the game around Korea.

But they do examine and adjust champions based on their proficiency in higher level player, whether it be the highest ELO or even competitive.

I'm not saying Shen deserved this 0.3 HP Regen nerf, I'm just trying to provide a motive.
