Is account-selling illegal?

It's not illegal But it is against the rules and can get you banned very quickly because account sharing is bannable and against the ToS

It's been a while since I've read the ToS EULA but it's something along the lines of this:

The accounts belong to Riot Games. They permit THE USER CREATING THE ACCOUNT to use it. They also own all skins. You may PURCHASE THE RIGHT to use those skins, which may be revoked for any reason or no reason at all.

So any accounts that are found to have multiple users will be permanently banned. Any skins you purchased the right to use will be bound to that account. If that account is banned you can create a new one and buy the right to use skins again.

Just to wrap it up because I've seen this claim made a dozen times. If you choose to be one of those children pretending to be in law school claiming it's considered theft in your jurisdiction, well all cases pertaining to these accounts and policies will be held in their jurisdiction, not yours.

In short, be on the selling side because then you have nothing to lose but your own time. The person buying it gets perma-banned and you can dispute whether you get to keep the money or not with them or the financial service you choose you exchange through.

Technically? No, since the law doesn't apply to it, so if you want to argue semantics, it doesn't fit the strict definition of illegal.

In reality, though, yes. It's a huge violation of the ToS and is one of the few instant permabans Riot will issue - the others including scripting, botting, and certain transaction-related issues.

Besides, you have to be a dumbass to buy an account anyways. It can easily have a history of punishments, and whoever it is can just change the password after you pay. The potential reward never outweighs the benefit.

It isn't illegal and you cannot be sued for it, nor can charges be brought against you for it. That said, Riot will terminate the account if they find out that ownership has been transferred.

Its perfectly fine you wont get banned or punished. if people would actually get banned/punished for buying/selling accounts guarantee you this game would be dead. cause so many are boosted in diamond its not even funny.
