℅ Max Health Damage

Can someone please explain why this is everywhere now? It's not uncommon for me to be playing against teams with four champions that have it.

It seems like a really oppressive mechanic for tanks to have to deal with. It feels absolutely horrible to be paying for stats in defensive items that are then immediately ignored by a large portion of popular champions.

It's so their damage doesn't fall behind when they are behind. So they can stay relevant.

And while I don't know the formula, buying resistances still help against this kind of damage. Except true damage.

% max health damage is reduced by your defenses whether it be magic resistance or armor depending on the type of damage inflicted. It's really not very effective unless you're talking about the very few champions that have % max health TRUE damage.

As far as why it exists - it can get very boring when both teams are equally tanky and neither team dies in 2+ minutes of continuous fighting. Hello season 3 and 4.

Because Riot loves damage creep and extremely snowbally matches. Don't ask me why, they're basically killing League lol.

A rioter said somewhere I can't remember that it's used commonly now because it helps balance champions. Without it, either they deal too much damage to squishies or do close to zero damage to tanks. Tanks can still itemize against %max health damage through resistances, as others have said, unless it's true damage.

Yeah, slapping it on every kit sucks... why tank? When the ADC is meant to kill you.... then every other champion on the map... why even be a tank? your CC? good luck. You'll die so fast since half the Gold you spend is wasted because they % it away.

Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't also on a lot of high mobility champs. Like I could live with pheonix or tiger stance do %hp physical on udyr but when the opponent can dash around and do tons of dodges I just kinda give up trying to foght them unless I have targeted cc (that thing that is being removed from game)

It's to punish health stacking because buying health is slightly more efficient than buying resistances.
