Suggestion to make ARAM a more viable game type

First off- thanks for ruining my ARAM by dropping Kayle on me. I don't want that trash ass champion. That's why I didn't buy that trash ass champion. Now every other game of ARAM I get this trash ass champion. Take her back- I don't want her. Seriously. ARAM is bullshit enough with poorly thought out free champ rotations. "We're putting a ton of mages up for rotation because of the mage update" Yeah- Free rotation should seriously keep ARAM into consideration. Nothing else.

Furthermore- I'm tired of getting a good champ, and someone drops queue ,then I get stuck with trash ass Kayle or some other bad champ.

Here are some suggestions: People drop queue because they get a trash champion. Punishing them is useless, because next queue we're going to run into the same problem- someone got robbed of the chance to play a good champ and gets stuck with a bad one. I want to introduce a new mechanic to ARAM queues- Revive. If queue drops, I get to click "Revive" to bring back the champ I had in the previous queue. Also, there needs to be more rerolls, or more ways to obtain them. Hmmm if only there was some kind of reward system.. Something like a chest I can open.. and get rewards.. Maybe I need some keys to open chests.. I don't know..

Also, I'm REALLY tired of poor team comps on ARAM. How is it even fun to play against Lux Morg and Fidd when you have a bunch of useless melee champs like Wu and Rengar? I've played too many games that are literally impossible to the CC being dropped. Grab cleanse you say? Well too bad I don't know who they have until game starts. Which also hinders my gameplay due to not knowing which masteries best suit my champ. I'm not building Armor on a Rammus versus an all AP enemy team comp.. but too late: my masteries say I am.

A- Introduce "Revive" to select the champion you got from previous queue. If player has "revive" available, the champion that can be revived is unavailable to other players.

B- Hextech Crafting can easily reward ARAM rerolls.

C- I understand that, due to champion availability, randomizing a team comp that is also viable could be hard. But there's got to be something you can do. I suggest a full team Reroll. The team votes in queue if they want to "mulligan".

I admit, I drop queue when I get a bad champion for the third time in a row. I don't play the game just so others can have fun. And it's not helpful to my team if they have a good champ. Punishing me doesn't help, I have multiple accounts. There is no justice. With more reroll rewards, there'd be less reason to drop queue. With a "revive" option we won't see people dropping queue out of being robbed- and it doesn't punish the players who had good champs but got robbed. Literally- if I drop queue the only ones being punished are the people sent back to lobby to wait for a different champion. I feel bad, I didn't want to waste another 30-40 minutes of my life playing stupid ass Kayle- one of my teamates was stoked about whoever they got but I dropped queue. Sure, I can't play for however long..on THAT account... but that ally was robbed of a good champ. Not cool? Well maybe if I didn't have trash ass Kayle dropped on me... I'm just saying. I didn't even get the opportunity to decline the stupid gift. It's a hindrance.

But I laid out some decent suggestions. And due to this very common problem, I'm hoping we can at least do something about it.

The only thing I can really get behind in this is the concept of switching the individual rerolls with a full-team reroll option instead. Team votes to reroll everything, or else they're stuck with what they have. It would (hopefully) encourage people trading champs they have to get the best player/champ pairings possible. But in reality it would probably just encourage more dodges.

That's worse. Keep individual rerolls, and reward them more often. Allow a player to revive a champion from dropped queues. And add the option of full team reroll.

Might as well just let people pick what they want at that point. It's random for a reason. Don't like it, don't play it.

I think my ideal for ARAM would be to leave the normal queue as it is, so more casual players have a place to goof off, and ARAM-only accounts can keep their circle jerk going there if they want. Then add a ranked queue for those of us who take it more seriously. In the ranked queue, make all champions available, and replace individual rerolls with a single chance for a team to vote on a full-team reroll.

You're missing the point, and your logic is terribly flawed. Your champion is randomly selected. You have the option to reroll for another random champion. If you could revive a champion- it would be one that was randomly generated from before.

The point is- there's a system put in place to discourage people from dropping queue. But this negative incentive is useless when you have more than one account because a single match outlasts your queue ban. The reason for this penalty is because people dislike the consequences of an ally dropping queue. But as I stated- the penalty accomplishes nothing. So the poeple are facing consequences with no real justice. Adding the option of "revive" does justify the fact that the queue was dropped. Because it removes the consequence.

Look, I realize I'm coming from a point of view that's increasingly rare at this point, but the small number of dodges I see in ARAM now doesn't bother me. I come from playing ARAM back when it was just a custom game on SR, where you routinely had to wait through 12+ dodges before a game started (my friends and I tracked this for a while). The worst I ever saw was something like 21 in a row before a game could start. Contrast that to today, and I'm usually only dealing with 2-4 dodges before a game, and it really don't bother me at all.

That said, various forms of 'recall the last champion I had' solutions have been proposed in the past, and there's a hole in that concept: It would actually reward dodging when you've got a strong champ but don't feel like your comp as a whole is that good.

Let's say I got Lux, but the rest of the team is fairly low-damage, low CC. Not a comp I want. I dodge, or else convince somebody else to. Now I know I've got Lux in my back pocket, so I can bring her back up when the team comp is better.

Let's take it a step further. I've got 4 friends who all like to play ARAM. They all do the same thing when they get top-tier champions. Now, we can queue as a 5-man, all bring out the OP champs we have stored up, and wreck face.

That would be a bit of a rare abuse case for sure. But letting people choose between a known champion and the random one they got is not random, even if they got that known champion randomly to begin with the previous game. Something cannot be both known and random.

That's a note-worthy concern. But we could work with it. Create conditions. If you drop queue, you don't get the option to "revive" your champion. If you're in a party, and a party member drops then the same thing- no revive. But if you're in solo queue, then it would work fine.

This problem really is a solo queue problem anyways. For the most part. If you're partied up, you're probably more likely to stay in queue to be a good teammate. Plus, you're probably familiar with your allies and are more likely to work with a "bad" champion if you know you have the support of friends.

You will find very little support here because the majority of the community dislikes "ARAM only" accounts who abuse the system by only owning champions they want to play. The game mode is called All Random All Mid for a reason, nobody likes when others groom their accounts to get an advantage in a gamemode.

And as for wanting Kayle to be taken back, you are hurting your post even more by showing that you are acting like an ungrateful asshole right now.

hmmmm

Why the fukk would anyone buy a champ they don't intend to play?
