I feel one sided games have more to do with poor matchmaking
In most one sided games I play, the losing team tends to make poor decision after poor decision and never has a chance to contest as a result.

How is that the result of poor matchmaking? Poor decisions lead to being behind. Players may not know how to play from behind, which is a different set of skills entirely that they may not have. Players that are ahead have less burden on their decisions. Players that are ahead have more leniency in their decisions. The poor choices they make can have their negative impact lessened by being ahead. The poor choice itself can even be negated by being ahead. I don't see that as the end result does not necessarily reflect on the beginning.
