What role does Aartrox fill?

Just got out of a custom game with Aatrox, got sated, picked up a botrk. And what happened next was amazing.... Nothing. It just felt like regular aatrox.

I mean with Yi, Jax, Kayle and other sated junglers you can feel the power spike the second it's sated. But with Aatrox I felt....Normal? Feels like he's a turd in the punch bowl. I mean if you want sustain with damage just build blood thirster on Yi and accomplish the same thing.

Aatrox needs a buff to the huge wind-up time on his Q, and his Ult should have a built in forward slashing cleave that works with his W.

Aatrox is one of my mains in ranked (I'm only G1), but I'd agree. I mostly play him top lane because people forget how to lane against him due to his rarity. He's got incredible sustain, but his Q -- you're right -- gets interrupted by everything. For an ability that's supposed to let you suicide into anything, it sure doesn't let you do that too often.

That said, don't get a item 3153 get a item 3074 , then a item 3071 .

Aatrox is basically a bruiser light / light tank.

Mid to late game he won't be killing anything very quickly unless he's obscenely fed, but what he can do is soak shocking amounts of damage with his W and some smart play - provided you're not -entirely- focused and don't get hard CC'd. The recent blood-well buffs actually make him pretty good at this, as if you build him mostly tank but with a damage item or two that complement him well you -force- the enemy team to deal with you, but then come back after they've done so.

That said Sated is actually stupidly strong on Aatrox. It makes his W proc every 2 autos instead of 3, which is insane when it comes to drain tanking - and also lets him be surprisingly bursty.

I'm pretty sure sated does not proc his W.

Like 95% sure.

It'll proc BORK and stuff....but not his W; it still counts down every 3.
