Ashe Arrow Visual/Hitbox is Still Extremely Misleading

Problems:

  1. The arrow hitbox is significantly wider than its animation.
  2. The arrow hitbox does not begin at the point of the arrow. It often appears that the point completely misses, yet the center of the body hits someone

I do not feel that the arrow hitbox is actually too big as far as the balance goes. It's just the arrow visual often looks like it has missed, the point goes past, the it hits you from the side of the body of the arrow as you sidestep. But please make the arrow head like wider or something so that it actually looks like it hit the things it stuns

Look at a champions shadow when you consider if an ability should land or not. The camera angle can be weird and mess with the 2d plane the game decides these things based on.

The shadow usually represents what a champion hitbox actually is but not always. If you do Lee's dance animation he will jump all over but his shadow will stay where his hitbox actually is. The same happens with some champions walk animations to a lesser extent.

Also the spectator client has some bugs in it with showing what happened in the game sometimes.

about as accurate as thresh Q hit box is. that one is even more wonky. u can find wrose things for example mf and koz ults can still tick even if u get out of their range 1-3 times

Thresh's hitbox is fine. The thing that throws people off is if it hits you at all, it snaps to center. It still hit though

u must have not watched lcs. 0 ping enviroment. the most wonky hooks ever.

HazyCloud74 votes

Nah the hitbox doesn't match the visual at all. On your screen it can appear that you side stepped it, and you may still get hooked.

Thresh hook, blitz hook, morgana Q, lux Q (and ult) and leblanc tether all need their visuals updated to better reflect the width of their hit boxes.

Thresh hook's hitbox extends wider as it goes further, that is why often times it looks like it hooks on nothing or it goes through something else.

This game's hitboxes infuriate me so much.

Just played a game where I couldn't snipe an engineer because his sentry's hitbox is larger than the actual model.

ohoho, wait till we get to star guardian lux! thats even worse!

It starts the aura of the arrow and lands at the very edge of the Orianna's hitbox but yeah the arrow head should be wider.

HazyCloud72 votes

God this is disgusting. Faker clearly side steps it by a country mile and still gets hit.

if you think that's bad look at lux ult.

it's fine, you were just too fat.

Imo it isn't the hit boxes. Its just the animation makes it very misleading. Shes just leaning forward.

ZephyrDrake1 votes

the hitbox of the arrow is the back part of it not the head area

Simple Moon1 votes

It's actually the fletching that is the hitbox. So it seems off but it's exactly how it should be.

omg why did my text go big

Pound signs are used in the formatting to bold text. Type \ behind it to make it not do that like this

After digging around forums, reddit and other assorted boards and webpages, I've come to two conclusions.

One: Riot has never answered any questions about hitbox inconsistancies, as far as I can tell, which suggests that they simple don't care how borked are in some cases Two: In my search, I found that hitboxes seem to extend into the shadow of the champ, for reasons unknown, which may illuminate some of what happened here.

rtbf761092711 votes

I don't think they extend to the shadow, I think like someone said earlier they are just above it. So when you character model runs and leans forward, the hitbox is slightly behind them. Which explains why when you sidestep and are running away it clips your hitbox but not your character model

but even so, when you look at fakers shadow and the arrow, you can pretty clearly draw a line separating them. so the arrow is misleading too

You do seem to have a point there, though I'd say the hitbox of the arrow in this instance is the extent of the blue haze surrounding the arrow. As for the hitbox being in the shadow, my source is thus: http://www.team-dignitas.net/articles/blogs/League-of-Legends/6419/League-of-Legends-A-Game-of-Hitboxes-Skillshots-and-Dodging It's an older set of examples, but I've found no data that Riot has changed anything since then.
