A question for One Tricks/Mains...

After falling in love with a champion do you end up debating abandoning them after seeing them changed practically every patch (or very frequently)?

I'm actually talking about Irelia as of now, I understand she's been a menace in pro-play so they're trying to fix that. They mentioned recently in the patch schedule that she should be getting some nerfs next patch. (Though to be honest I completely disagree with this, I don't have enough of an interest in pro play to support champs being nerfed to keep that playing field balanced. But I'm also selfish and its my opinion.

Unfortunately for me I had my day with Irelia, Azir, Sylas , Akali, Zoe, and Yuumi (REALLY bad luck on my end.)

Like when i see a champion I enjoy playing enough to play them almost every game get changed, gutted in one area or two, and mini reworked every so often I honestly don't even want to play them anymore until they appear to be in a condition where the Pros aren't touching them. I'm still sticking with Sylas in hopes that they'll leave him alone for a while (fuck that shield change though laning against AD assassins already gave me a heart attack.) I'm not saying the shield change is HORRIBLE, but Sylas players are going to have a tough time carrying if the enemy Bruiser gets fed after this patch. I'm hoping to get some games on him soon...

TL;DR Anyone else feel like that? It might be hard for someone that generally follows the meta or doesn't really have an "attachment" to any specific character to understand i'd guess. This is mainly a question to people that 1 trick/main champs in and out of metas.

It's just exhausting trying to cling to a champ you really like but constantly having to adjust to changes on the flip of a coin. Re-learning matchups, what you can survive etc. Kalista 1 tricks are troopers...

This isn't a matter of bad luck really. You played the champions everyone else played because they were op, which made them fun to play as, and awful to play against.

Irelia was my first main and when they reworked her, it didn't make me drop her. In fact, I liked the new kit. The newer changes I haven't seen yet.

LeBlanc, however, I did stop playing. I used to LOVE playing LeBlanc, but when they removed her silence, she stopped being useful as a support.

Well I'm a Pyke main and I stopped playing him because they gutted his wave clear and damage, making him practically useless in a solo lane which I always play him in. Therefore, yes, its a small debate but I ended up saying no more.

Yep already ditched mine. Use to one trick Soraka whenever I played support but after the "rework" and the second "rework" leading into non stop nerfs and grievous wound items being made/buffed im done. I love this champion so much and she has carried me through so many ranks when I actually wanted to climb. I use to love soraka that I would pick her regardless of who I was facing now id rather just play nami seeing as she does sorakas job better and isnt even on riots radar to be gutted.

every champ you listed is broken af in many ways, irelia has been top 5 top/mid since rework, because she broken, shes a massive lane bully that has better all in then some assassins, she does needs nerfs, and its not pro play related, they play her because shes strong af.

Sylas was broken then nerfed, now mini reworked, we shall see

zoe wouldnt be allowed in league if it was season 7 and before, a champ literally ment to one shot at 1 item o.o dumb as fuck

azir needs some love tbh very unique champ, not broken just hard to learn

akali needs a full rework, even with the newest patch she does so much damage, atleast we can see her now tho

and yummi a champ that dosnt take flash and has mejis in its core build that dosnt need boots, with a slow on a hard to miss q, a better sona ult, heals and shields with move speed burst, AND BUFFS CHAMPS AD OR AP...yea thats not busted

lol just stick with a champion, none of the balance changes matter to you if you one trick something.

I stopped playing Irelia the minute they launched Poppy.

I just dont want to play against Poppy on Irelia, and then they nerfed Irelia's passive and I just ... never felt interested in picking her back up. Of course, I was working on becoming an Akali main - And then she got reworked into a garbage champion pros kept playing for some reason, despite her amazing 45% winrate peak. And I mean pro games, her win rate was terrible. So is Rek'sais but people kept picking her until recently.

Sylas isn't a champion you main, he's a champion you learn and then pick him when the other team has a bunch of nice ults to take. If he's ever picked beyond his Ultimate, he needs nerfs. Like not reverting the Kingslayer nerfs a few patches ago. Why Riot, why did you buff Kingslayer again? Nerfing the shield was great now stop letting him buy 1 defensive item, be ridiculously tanky, kill people as fast as an ADC and be able to heal 40% of his max HP in a single button

But you literally followed the meta with your champion list. Only Azir wasn't in meta for a long time, everyone else were op broken shit for a while.

Unless it is a major rework that changes how a champion is played, I tend to stick with them.

I played Sion before his rework. Not so much now.

I played Skarner before his latest rework. Not so much now.

I played Darius before his rework. I still do, but it took adjusting to the lack of movement speed from his passive before I picked him back up.

Taliyah

  1. Increased MS on worked ground nerfed. Replaced by reduced mana cost for Q.
  2. AOE damage removed from Q.
  3. Vision removed from R.
  4. Wall stands for only 3 seconds, reduced from 5 seconds.

Yup, I still play her. But, I don't play rank so all the nerfes and buffs affect me the least.

Don't choose overpowered champions to be your main.

Listen up,

you are not a real OTP, if you leave your champ after being gutted, changed,

WE SHACO MAINS

Know that the best,

he was reworked, gutted, nerfed over and over again and now sucks dick,

so yeah, we cling onto our champions because we love them no matter how shit and bad they are
