Marksmen Identity Crisis

I've been trying to work this out, and could use some help. Marksmen as far as I can tell really come in two varieties. Caster Carries and Hyper Carries.

  • Caster Carry (Constant Use of Damage Abilities is Essential to Maximize Damage Output; Not Just Damage Amplifying Abilities) Corki Draven (Shakey on this one) Ezreal Lucian Quinn Tristana (Due to Rework) Varus

  • Hyper Carry (AA Centric, with built in damage mechanics that are greatly amplified upon Item completion. E.g. %Health, AOE/Multi-Target) Ashe (Auto Crit + Focus) Vayne Kalista Kog'Maw (Kind of a caster but has %health damage) Jinx (Only because of Mini Gun + Fishbones) Twitch Sivir (Riccochet + Wild Hunt)

Which leaves me with Caitlyn, Graves, & Miss Fortune that I don't believe comfortably fit in either of these sub-roles. I also notice that all 3 are seeing hard times competitively. Anything any of these three do, someone else can do too, likely better.

I don't have answers on this thread, i'm just trying to work it out. Any suggestions? Do these three need their own category or reworks? (or am I missing something?)

I'd almost list Graves as an assassin with the burst he has haha, but yea its not healthy for a carry to have to rely on burst there supposed to be dps'ers. MF has always been bad, sorry MF players I love her mix dmg but. Cait is not a hypercarry, more of a early/mid carry, that's why she is siege queen cause you wanna end before late game with Cait before she falls off.

All 3 of them are lane bullies but actually really aren't that similar.

Graves can't poke that effectively without going oom unlike Caitlyn or Miss Fortune however as soon as someone is CC'ed whether it by the Support or Jungler, Graves can burst them down extremely fast and with his dash stay on them. Graves out of these 3 easily has the best late game though. He's pretty tanky with his passive, though Miss Fortune is the tankiest ADC with base stats only.

Caitlyn has to poke and she can't all-in without poking the enemy down extremely low since she pretty much has no AA steroids besides her passive. Caitlyn's high range and her abilities allow her to be an extremely safe laner and is probably the safest ADC in the game. Her mid game is easily the worst of these 3 but her late game is pretty strong since her sieging powers are crazy and with her range she can stay out of the huge messy teamfights with AoE champions like Viktor or something and not be as easily killed. One thing I see people forget is that she also has really good objective control with her traps and she can also auto attack Baron/Dragon over the pit, and she can pretty much one-shot minion waves late game with her Q so pushing is ez for her.

Miss Fortune has easily the best early game of these 3 and also the worst late game. She is extremely versatile since she can duel, siege, teamfight, push, good objective control, and she also can poke and all-in someone whenever she wants. She has one of the highest damage outputs out of all ADCs including top-tier ones like Vayne and Kalista, but she also has very little mobility aside from her passive which is mainly used to get around the map before teamfights. She pretty much can do anything like, she can duel better than Twitch but Twitch can teamfight better, and she can teamfight better than Vayne but Vayne can teamfight better. Basically she's the Thresh of all ADCs since she can do whatever she wants but there's a champion that does better in a certain category.

Taking a look at this I'm not quite sure what to categorize them. Caitlyn could be categorized as a Poke ADC or Lane Bully, but Graves and Miss Fortune unlike Caitlyn can also poke AND all in somebody at the drop of a hat.
