We need a mode with popular champions banned

I have been seeing plenty of people fed up with Lees, Zeds, Yasuos, Fizzes and plenty of other champions every game. So I have been thinking, why not create a game mode where you get a random non-meta champion of those that you own, in a role where it doesn't excell?

You might think: well, if people get, say, Poppy mid, what stops them from going top lane and abuse her against least viable picks? To this, my answer is simple. The mode starts like Teambuilder, where you only select your role. Your role will determine which summoner spells you take, in this manner:

Top: summoner 6 summoner 12 Mid: summoner 1 summoner 14 Jungle: summoner 6 summoner 11 ADC: summoner 6 summoner 7 Support: summoner 7 summoner 3

No flash!

And who would exactly be allowed into each lane? Here is the list:

To let these lesser junglers shine, we might need to nerf monsters a little in this game mode. Other than that, it seems the game would work very decently, and for once, you would be able to bring Olaf top without being called a troll. Why not?

Just stop all the immediate hotfixes whenever someone less popular is played somewhere, and actually balance/diversify bot lane meta so not just adc+supp can survive the lane.

Reduce the importance of drag and make the value of Baron and Dragon more or less equal but with different purposes, like Drag buff for more utility but Baron buff for more combat power just for example. And they both spawn at the same time.

There you go, I fixed the game for Riot. Please, do this Riot!

On the OP, no don't counter meta by introducing another but rather similar meta that is even more forceful than current meta, because you are physically limiting the champs being picked into said lane and the summoner spells which is just bad and stupid. All you're doing here imo is enforcing meta (or just certain strategy), where top picks don't exist, and I do not approve.

Give players more flexibility is all we need.

so not just adc+supp can survive the lane.

i went Yasuo+Lee with a friend bot lane in blind pick twice the other day and we won the lane easily. Went Sion+Kayle the other(random picks) and still won.

Granted in draft the enemy team would have adapted after they saw no adc or supp.

Yas is a really fun off-meta ADC. Especially with Cho/Malph support.

I saw a topic similar to this, except the proposed solution was "reverse pick". The enemy teams would pick each other's team composition. Naturally, underplayed/weaker/non meta picks would abound and make for an interesting game.

Obligatory "Dota did it first, kind of."

It's available in private lobbies, but no matchmaking. (It happened in at least one tournament, too! It was called atoD.)

I do not remove them, I merely allow the not overloaded ones to shine in a different mode, for people who are less into the meta and the victory and more into the fun. (Respect to the 5 Urgot mains out there!). If you want to play your Lee Sin, you would be able to show off your amazing plays in a normal game against the Vaynes, the Zeds, the Yasuos and the Threshes. If you want to be able to play more than 20 champions you'd go to this mode. The point of this is here.

Based off your list, I want to see if this game mode would be bad for me...Listing my mains for each lane

Top: Chogath Gangplank Warwick Shyvana

Jungle: I don't ever really jungle but I guess I'd be ok with Aatrox Chogath

Mid: Anivia Galio Kennen Zyra

ADC: Ashe MissFortune

Support: Alistar Karma Taric Nami

So basically everyone of my mains for their roles would still be allowed lol. I'd support this game mode, and I'd be happy to try some of the even lesser played tops that I've been wanting to try out without the fear of some of the ranged champions knocking them out.

So we just make a new meta since all you are doing is deleting champions from a gamemode based on current popularity. Then this new gamemode gets a new meta to be complained about accomplishing nothing.

You forget the part where it is randomly chosen, meaning meta can't be created since you have hardly an idea of what you are playing.

Heh, it'd be really fun for maybe Valentine's Day (no love) to have a mode where only the least-picked half of LoL gets to play, but all champs are unlocked for the mode. This would leave us with:

Most of those champions are strong right now, the only ones who are quite low is gangplank, elise, taric, mordekaiser, nautilus and zac. Otherwise all those champions are pretty damn good.

Those are the 62/123 least-played champions in the game, and with six bans and all of them unlocked for the mode, I could see people discovering how broken OP Yorick or Taric are. When was the last time you saw a Mundo, a Galio, or even a Kennen?

(It's not about who's strong or not, it's about who's played or not.)

Yeah but we discover the strong champions by playing them. People play what they like to play and zedd and yasuo are fun to play.

Nothing is stopping people from discovering how strong a champion is. If your teammate is dumb and tells you kennen top is bad , just mute him and carry the team.

I just don't think there is any need for this mode, it just creates a whole new meta.

I know your talking about pickrate but I dont see why that is important.

Hehe, I just gathered the least picked ADCs for the position, them either having carry potential, being classified as Marksmen or having high AA range (and Maokai) I am not saying everyone's power level is the same. But an Annie is a lot damn closer to a MF in power instead of a Vayne or a Corki when it comes to being an ADC.

Udyr in the top with TP and Ghost would probably bring Trick2G players to this game mode. I want no disrespecting here :c

However, Zac deserves to be allowed mid :)

Gnar is being spammed right now, so he is being kept out of the list entirely. Ahri has no interaction with Autoattacks or AD whatsoever. Sion mid can be acceptable. Taric top... meh, low kill potential but decent trades.

Range champs can soft reset camps, and he has a shield, and a slow in top of that, and lvl 6 awesome ganks. And for support, ult, slow bot with some poke.

He even sound good in paper.

waitwaitwait....why are Ashe, Miss Fortune, Kog'Maw, Sivir, Twitch, and Varus playable in the ADC role in this mode, but Quinn isn't? Because at least most of those are meta picks (not a popular as Lucian or Caitlyn maybe) for the ADC role.

Instead of banning popular champions, why not change Blind Pick to exactly that, all 10 people get a random champion. Good luck, have fun.

This just creates a new meta than riot would balance the "OP" champions in this meta.

Plus over half the top lane champions you listed are all strong picks, people are just dumb and don't use them.

This mode is similar to what urf was; it created a new 5v5 meta, that than riot would have to balance around if they kept it, so they removed it.

It could work as a limited edition mode.
