Thresh finally getting buffed

About. Damn. Time.

This champ blows. He has no innate sustain or shields. He isn't relic shield friendly. And he is melee champion but isn't tanky enough for his role and goals.

The lack of sustain or innate shields is probably biggest difference between the success of Thresh and champions like Rakan and Pyke.

Also his ultimate sucks gameplay and thematically...

The situational slow and damage is almost always irrelevant. Add near sight to it. That way the ultimate can live up to its name.

P.S.

Zilean is in the same boat as Thresh.

Wdym Zilean is in the same boat? He has the highest winrate mid and third highest support currently. His kits a lil boring but hes not underpowered. Thresh I could see some buffs but hes not in an awful spot.

12th is the highest win rate? Not only is that not even in the top 10, its low enough that it can easily sway down lower or higher. His support win rate is high but that is only recently which probably has to do with bruisers and mages coming bot who would value speed ups and slows more than an adc would. And getting more levels sooner on said champs who scale with levels way more than adc's do.

Zilean does need a buff or preferably a mini rework. He sucks as a traditional support. He has conditional hard CC but lacks the ability to provide direct combat support/protection outside his ult and in lane while being squishy.

I think I wouldn't have much less issues with him if they changed it so his passive could be used even if it didnt grant a level up. It makes his passive unnecessarily difficult and restrictive to use.

cough his w is a shield cough

I agree Thresh could use a minor buff, but there are plenty of supp champs that are worse off. For instance, with the in my opinion misguided nunu changes he has now become a below average jungler, and has completely lost his winrate as a counterjgl supp, whilst still being listed as a support in the store, or Lulu, who has been hit incredibly hard by the support item nerfs.

Thresh has been trash tier for quite a while now. I wasn't around when Thresh was released which is where I imagine a lot of the hate for this champion came from.

When I came in season 5 Thresh was at best a meh champion but has continuously gotten worse over time and barely seen any buffs.

Nunu on the other hand has seen a lot of buffs (and nerfs) and is being reworked.

Are there other champions who need buffs? Yes, but my post was focused on the support lane scene (probably should have specified) where he has been a dumpster for so long. Lulu was strong and needed the nerfs along with rest of the enchanter class in general. She went from OP to balanced.

Thresh's W shield is awful. You can pop that thing by sneezing at it. Its on his last leveled up ability with a whooping 20+ second cool down.

Maybe if mana costs weren't so high or made comparable to the reward for landing his abilities would they be justified.

Thresh's shield is pretty big - that is if you know how to collect souls.
