I'm a Zyra support main (or at least, I was) and I have a free ward every 20-10s. Not gonna waste my gold on an item that doesn't even make half of that effect. Y'know that free thing everyone buys at the beginning? The combined effects of both totems (adc and support's totems) makes that effect for free. I often buy two pink wards for the vision and that's perfectly fine. Shut ur trap about sight stones and play.
Marshbouy6 votesNo. Certain supports like zyra don't need a sightstone but most supports do. The ward output from two green trinkets might seem like enough but it is not. Sight stone is not technically mandatory, but it is most certainly pillar to the role of supporting. If you do not build it, you do not get the vision from it and put your game in jeopardy.

Supports are HALF the team's vision. If you want all of us to ward, sure! But you supports do the job better! Get the damn item and stop buying damages! You're SUPPORTING the adc, not getting yourself fed.

Hige2 votesexcept no, because as a support you don't scale well because of lack of gold and like 40% of your experience comes from breaking wards which only happens if you have red trinket, meaning that you can't work in tandem with the adc to ward with yellow trinket AND sightstone has THREE wards, not one.
Understand that support isn't a downgraded mage and analyze why the hell the support is stuck in bot lane in the first place, once you get that the answer to buying sightstone or not will be crystal clear.
But in case you were wondering, sightstone IS mandatory for supports, I don't care if you're Ashe support, vision and counter vision IS YOUR JOB, the rest of the team can HELP but ultimately the support is in full responsability for it.

It's a lot more efficient for a support to get a sightstone as it's hella cheap which is good for support since they are low income. It also builds into a LOT of support items (
). It also allows you to pick up one of these bad boys 
to help get rid of enemy wards while you can still place wards. Honestly this thread sounds more like an excuse for you to build full damage as a "Support". Note: this is all from the views of a support main.

Not getting a sightstone is stupid. Blitz should especially be picking up a sightstone because if you're pushing the lane to land hooks under their turret, that's an easy TP gank from the bushes behind you. You want to grab the sightstone to switch to sweeper to prevent that. The other option is to buy pink wards, but that's not always available.
