"Tank Meta"

Does it irritate anyone else when they hear this?

Tanks being more popular doesnt make it a tank meta, in my opinion. The only thing new is Cinderhulk, a jungle item. People started making wild theories about everyone taking smite top, and how it would be tank meta.

Truth is tank's became a better choice in jung, partially b ecause the jung is tougher, partially because the item. Hardly anyone ever takes smite top for it though, and nothing else changed about tanks really. People just remembered tanks existed and started using them again. For a while everyone wanted assasins and bursters, but eventually also everyone got tired of getting assasinated and bursted, so they started picking up tanks again.

Thats the only reason tanks are in favor again, because people got tied of dealing with the meta they halped create. And the game seems balanced right now between tanks and everything else, imo.

The Tankiest part of the Tank meta, has already passed. When Cinderhulk first came out, Sion, and Maokai dominated the Top lane as Tanks. When Cinderhulk came out. It's Tankyness complemented the Tankyness of the top laners, creating a double front line. That was the peak of the Tank meta. After Sion and Maokai got nerfed, we started to see more Bruiser and play making champs, Notably Herc in the top lane. But when the Smite top lane became a thing, we ultimately realized that Cinderhulk was bonkers OP. We nerfed Cinderhulks ambient damage focusing on it's defenses.

And where are we now? Well we are seeing Rek'sai and Eve in the LCS buying Warrior and not cinderhulk. Top lane smite is still used but not as dominant as it use to be. And were seeing more top laners as well since CinderHulk allows toplaner more option that. (be the teams tank.) So we actually have a lot more variety now that Before or Immediately after the introduction of CinderHulk.

THAT'S THE TANK META! You described it perfectly while denying it.

No its not. The last "tank meta" was a true tank meta. They were picked overwhelmingly, and were supremely tanky.

Now they are picked averagely compaed to other champ types, and they feel, to me, pretty in line with the current meta, which I would argue is a "balanced" meta.

tank meta would imply, that tanks are actually dominating everywhere. when theyre just simply being played again. you dont see 2 or 3 tanks every game per team.

besides. every meta is just an adc meta. its always about what kills the opposing adc most efficiently. bruisers, mages, assassins, tanks, doesnt matter. because ranged adc are broken as shit.

every team comp breaks down to: 1 adc with a mix of supports to protect the own adc, and someone whos job is to dive and kill the opposing adc.

because for some reason riot decided to make them the class that deals the most damage to champions, is the strongest at sieging and pushing down turrets, and the strongest when it comes to taking objectives like baron and dragon. so basically the 3 most important things in this game.

This isn't so much a tank meta than a meta where tanks can actually do something. In previous seasons, tanks got ripped apart by just about anyone since their items were gimped to prevent bruisers from abusing them. When assassins were strong last season, they could assassinate tanks a disturbing amount of the time; the class that should have been their natural counter.

Now, with cinderhulk and a few specific buffs to tank champions, Riot has made them contribute to teamfights and allowed tanks to do their job. It's not a tank meta, it's just that tanks are strong enough now to fulfill their role for the first time in over a year.

I don't think its about tanks being too strong as opposed to being necessary ingredient for creating a highly synergistic team comp. If communication is poor there's no good way of telling your team its time to engage if your squishy. If you mean to engage and your team hesitate/doubts/standby idle the enemy team can get you low fast. Which already sets you behind.

Meta refers to recent changes in popularity. It doesn't matter what the meta before was, or whether you perceive the change from that meta to the current as being a move toward better balance, a meta's a meta.

When assassins were the meta, you didn't see people arguing it wasn't so because of DFG. It didn't matter what the cause was, because the effect was still there. The same is true now.

It is tank meta beucase assassisn were nerfed out of beign a good option in most cases and we are not seeing thigns like Riven, Jax, Aatrox and Shyvana being played.

Instead it is basically always Mao, and Things like Naut support being played with Sejuani, zac and other champs that build basically full tank being played every game.

IT is the tank meta because without assassins to kill the carries it is now a matter of surviving the carries damage enough to CC them in hopes of one of your carries being able to kill them.

Also tank meta is boring in top lane since it is literally the "wet noodle fight" that ghostcrawler was calling top lane a while ago.

But yeah baiscally it comes down to assassins being in to weak of a position currently. Buff assassins so that they can assassinate carries and tanks will fall out of favor since tanking is only good if you can get the damage fro msomewhere else to kill the enemy carries.
