This bothers me because s8 ranked was trash. I rushed gold and pretty much avoided it the whole season because I got sick of people not taking ranked serious... I almost feel punished because I can't get the full s9 armor unless I play s8 ranked.
That's just stupid. Implement your splash system or individual ranks for roles if you're gonna pull shit like this.

ranked was pretty much made for serious play. if you have a problem with that, you can always paly normal draft. You can't expect people to take it casually while playing in a quaue that was made for more "hardcore" games

Ooh, okay... It just bothers me that people don't try. I really want this new system and I don't think they should hold us to the new rules if they aren't even fully implemented yet.

I also feel that people who are not serious should not play ranked and what you quoted says exactly that. people are NOT taking it seriously enough.

If you don't do placements, then you don't get the full thing at the end of the year... Why are they doing this? Good question. S9 isn't fully active so they shouldn't make us play these s8 games for s9 rewards.
That aside, it doesn't matter if it's valuable or not... Nothing in this game has actual value. That doesn't make the methods any less unfair and it doesn't make me unreasonable for not wanting half-assed armor.

Based on your first comment, you already implied you know what it is... Your second question was already answered also. So sorry, I can't force you to read the second paragraph of my last comment. -_- (but that's where your answer is.)
Since I wrote this, I'm under the impression they won't begin the splits before season 9, but I could have sworn I read them say you had to complete placements... If you can confirm, that would be great.
