Old Taric Looks More Fun To Play...

His old kit looks suuuper fun... Was he broken back then? Does anyone know? If not, why did they choose not to give him the Ez treatment?

He wasn't really broken, just... nuanced. Kind of weird to play. He did get a ton of play at one time, but I don't think he was ever widely considered broken. Personally, I prefer new Taric, but I favor wild interactivity changes as a rule.

Old Taric was good when his numbers are too strong. New Taric is a way better kit in my opinion and a lot more fun. Personally he's exactly what I always wanted in a support.

His old kit didn't have a single skillshot or important decision besides, "Which person do I stun?" or "Which person do I heal?". Both of those abilities were guaranteed to go off and besides the CD and mana requirement there was no disadvantage to it.

As an opponent, He was basically a bundle of passive stats and effects that you couldn't do anything about. If you entered the range of him and his teammate, you were going to get stunned, lose a portion of your armor, and the opponents would get healed and buffed.

Without going invulnerable to avoid the stun or killing the Taric instantly you weren't going to avoid any of it.

Got to Mastery 5 with old Taric.

Ultimately no, Old Taric was a giant stack of high-grade ultra sharp cheese with that salty, crystalline texture that really hits it home.

Note that we are talking about cheese. You know how New Taric, Malphite, Rammus and Ornn can stack armor to the roof? Yeah, Old Taric did it better. On top of that, he also shredded enemy armor, in an AOE. And GAVE armor, in an AOE. Upwards of 40 or even 50 if you focused on it. And his stun was a targeted ability. His ult was effectively a baron buff, that stacked; so combine it with the armor shred and the ACTUAL baron buff and you were talking about a 150 AD/AP disparity applied to the entire party, effectively enabling everyone to deal true damage to non-tanks and giving the equivalent of Warden's Mail to everyone around him.

Old Taric was serious cheese, and while I miss it, New Taric is still better and healthier for game balance.

oh i loved old taric so much

but when braum came out he was taric 2.0 and taric was never seen from again. so they reworked taric to give him a different identity

I played him before and after the rework. I like both iterations of him. The old one was more reliable with his targeted stun but I feel the new one is better when more skilled with him due to being able to stun multiple targets at once.

tbh old taric was unhealthy and boring because he was just a stat stick and if he wasn't support he was top as the ultimate healing tank because self casting q doubled the healing he received

Old Taric used to be one of my favorite picks way back when. He wasn't SUPER BUSTED, but he was valuable to have in certain comps.

I remember being able to turn fights around after using my [R] to buff Allies & shred Armor with my [W]. Those were some fun times.

old taric was more fun by leaps and bounds and he was more interesting as a teammate too

New one has fake complexity and has never been healthy and strong at the same time, not to mention playing him is a matter of auto losing just about any meta lane unless someone screws up majorly and then auto winning if the game lasts long enough for you to scale (why does a support scale? Nobody knows)
