I'm so glad my struggle of 60+ games to buy 1 6300 ip quint is getting 300 blue essence. Which will likely be equivalent of two games now. Thank you Mommy riot.

Because long term rune holders got more benefit from runes. You got their value by using them more.

actully they got less screwed because riot was not going to refund any runes before may of this year

I know what you mean. As someone who played from almost the beginning, and spend literally hundreds of british pounds on RP i find this a total faceslap from Riot. Don't mind the petty individuals defending them, obviously it doesn't affects them so they chat shit. I hope the all the reasonable people from the community will react accordingly and stop this outrage.
