Change Rat-a-tat-tat to Sewer Skewers

Let me quote the Riot argument:

"We've made changes to two of Twitch's abilities names, to have them make a little more sense to what the gameplay actually is. Expunge has been changed to Contaminate. The previous name indicated that the poison was removed, but this hasn't been true since the gameplay update that came out a while ago. Spray and Pray, an iconic name, has been changed to Rat-ta-tat-tat. We felt that for Twitch's R, he maintains more of an "Aim and Shoot" gameplay, rather than a really frantic ability that can miss, a-la Spray and Pray."

Okay, fair enough. But the argument doesn't work in favor of the new names.

Rat-a-tat-tat doesn't indicate anything other than the name of a machine gun noise. He uses, by default, a crossbow. That doesn't make any sense at all! Twitch even says, when using his ultimate, better names such as "Sewer Skewers" and "Pins and Needles." The name has the "descriptive" nature that Riot wants without the cacophonous name.

Contaminate is an even bigger offender. The change from expunge is based on the point that poison is not removed. HOWEVER, contaminate implies that Twitch's e applies poison, which is not true! If you want to keep a quick name that works, why not use a name that indicates a worsening of existing poison? I suggest fester, which indicate Twitch is proccing an infection or attack based on existing poison stacks.

  1. The suggested names provide clarity desired by Riot.
  2. The new (on live)names are not descriptive as Riot desires.
  3. The poll might provide further backing behind a community desire for names different than the ones on live.

Edit: Fixed typo. D:

Or they could just change it back to Spray and Pray like we begged them to in the first place. There was no reason to change his ult name other than "lel puns of damuge, so fonny guyz."

I have to think of the skill as "expunge" and not contaminate because otherwise I think to myself that I'm applying poison based on the name. I really HATE the name contaminate.

I don't play a lot of Twitch (though he is tied with MF as my favorite ADC)... And reading his skill names for a refresher has honestly made me mess up my skill order as I quickly read "contaminate" and think that's the venom cask... Since the cask is used to contaminate the target in order to actually use the "contaminate" skill.

As a Twitch main I approve of this.

If Riot CAN'T change it back to SaP, Skewers works perfectly!

Bump for E to be renamed to 'Fester;' I don't much care about the ult name....Waiting on a Korean Shoutcaster to say (scream) it.

Spray and Pray is better to me, but Twitch's VO is already hooked up with lines like "Sewer skewers for everyone"...

I'll support this. The current ability names are contradictory to Riot's reasoning for the change, and in the case of Joey's best pokemon, freaking stupid to say.

Spray and Pray didn't really make a lot of sense as a name for Twitch's ultimate either, Sewer Skewers sounds like penetrating rounds. I approve of this OP.

You make an excellent point! I'm in for the ult name change, as well as the Fester name change for E. It'll also allow many casters alike to talk about Twitch ulting in a pronounceable way :D

Thanks for the support guys. I also really love the original names, but I understand Riot's point. I am trying to argue that their names don't fit their reasoning and argue for name changes that do fit that philosophy.

Seriously appreciate the support though! Get people voting this up!
