Vladimir's balance issues

I'm an avid player of Vladimir, and I feel right now he's not in the best place at all. He still has an atrocious early game that can be easily abused, items that he used to try and spike mid game (item 3152 , item 3116 ) have been nerfed, and with the changes to his E a while back (Pay 8% health to deal 6% of your health as damage, but with a 1.0 AP ratio) made a item 3065 rush less viable.

Not only that, but the way the Vladimir player plays his champion has drastically improved with the rework (getting the third Q, E is now more of a risk) but his counterplay is still not improved.

You can still shutdown a major part of Vladimir's power by simply Autoing him with item 3123 , or summoner 14 , both of which are click shots with the Vladimir player having no way to interact with it besides running away, waiting for the wounds to go away.

However, if you do not apply Wounds, he becomes an unstoppable juggernaut mage, killing everything, never dying.

He needs work, definitely not as much as Mordekaiser (bless his soul, finally confirmed by Meddler for a rework) but I think he needs something around the Shyvana level touch up to finally make him fun for both sides to play against, and not just stat check counterplay (if I click him with Grievous Wounds, he heals less).

Stop focusing on sustain in an overloaded damage meta.

Try building item 3158 item 3001 item 3157 item 3116 item 3089 item 3135.

Reds: Pen or AP/lvl Yellows:HP/lvl blues: AP/lvl or CDR/lvl (if going for 20% CDR so you can use another boot option) Quints: 1 AP or AP/lvl and 2 CDR/lvl (if just going for 10%)

I took him up to plat 5 (would have skipped a tier to plat 3 if I kept climbing) extremely easily that way last season, though it was post-reward distribution.

If I wanted just damage and no sustain, I would go for another AoE teamfight mage with good late game scaling, maybe a Malzahar , or Cassiopeia , who have sustained damage but also have actual hard CC in their kits. Most of Vladimir's power is in his sustain, so I want to play to his strengths.

No, most of Vlad's power is in his damage, not his sustain. His sustain is purely a bonus.

You can't carry a game with sustain. You can carry it with damage, especially since you end up really tanky and elusive. Not to mention how hard it is to peel your damage.

IN ADDITION, if you do the math, you actually heal MORE with AP builds than with Spirit Visage+Protobelt.

The only real substitute you can do is Spirit Visage over Abyssal, which DRASTICALLY lowers your damage, but it allows you to lane mid against the countless champs that outburst, outpoke, outrange, outrun, and out-cc you. Situationally, you can also replace Rylai's with Spirit Visage.

he needs a rework to coincide with grevious wounds rework being a "fuck you" to a small pool of champions and their only counterplay.
