Nautilus will have mana problems if this change goes thru

Talamare··43 votes·3,440 views

Nautilus at the moment is already pretty tight as far as the mana department goes and you're heavily reducing his cooldowns but only slightly reducing his mana costs

Going from 100 mana every 6 seconds to 80 mana every 3.6 seconds is going to increase his mana cost from ~17 per second to ~23 per second

Suggestion Reduce his cost new cost to 35/45/55/65/75

You do not have to cast a spell just because it is off cooldown. Past the first 2-3 clears Nautilus only needs his shield for clearing the jungle. I don't see a huge issue with his CD being reduced but his mana costs not.

Well, in part they're nerfing the damage output on the shield substantially while buffing the potential damage on riptide...

Riotscarizard said they plan to make E max better than W max first

They are also probably limiting W so that he doesn't become an insane top laner instead of a better jungler like what happened with Maokai

ok thx!

yeah seriously this isn't a nerf in any way. Adjust your playstyle and you'll notice that it's actually a buff :).

Nautilus has been having mana issues ever since Blue Buff duration was lowered. That is one of the biggest reasons why he is weak now. His tankiness and damage and CC are all very heavily mana reliant. So yeah...

Kingsgrave4 votes

They should just lower the cost of Q and W

Put the cost in the deadlier and more effective skill and take it out of the others

item 3110 / item 3800 / Blue buff

Ah, yes... Let me buy two expensive items at level 3. That way, one rotation doesn't chunk away more than half of my mana.

Sorry if I sound a bit snarky, but this really doesn't help his already weak early game. He's got such a (relatively) low mana pool that without a constant blue buff he'll run out of mana way too fast. It gets a bit easier mid-game, but that's when most mids will want blue buff. I know that you don't need to give your mid blue, but with the mana-regen nerf a lot of them will need it in order to get ahead or push an advantage.

Frozen heart is on actually on the cheaper end of items, and would help is jungle... I mean it's even cheaper than a sunfire cape. Also, you are definitely not giving your blue buff away at level 3. I've never had mana problems either. I think you're doing something wrong lol.

I am interested in how mana hungry he will be. I say its a valid concern considering his mana costs early game are big right now anyway. He might be very blue dependent.

Well juggernaut is being replaced with CinderHawk and having just tried him out on PBE hes in a really good spot. Blue is always nice but he'll live without it.

"You don't have to use E every time its up" Actually...with W being nerfed, for the second time in a few weeks, you HAVE to spam E or you're even more useless in the jungle.

Riot: We halved the CD of Naut's E, ok problem solved!

Nautilus: -Uses 2 E's- Ok guys, I couldn't kill raptors, but I gotta recall cause Im OOM.

Knight SoIaire 2 votes

dont forget the cinderhulk, a sunfire type item replacing the juggernaut enchant

if you combo it with your w it should still do for clearing despite his w being nerfed

so his e wil be mainly abused when he still has his blue up

ofc assuming the item gets to live

Kitten of Evil1 votes

Yeah, if you spam it literally every time it's up. In general though you won't be doing that. Okay, in teamfights you might be (even then, it's unwise unless you know you'd hit enemy targets), but in jungling and ganking, there is a decent amount of downtime walking between camps that it won't be used.

Champion Skin1 votes

Well the point of the change (Less cooldown on E and less damage on W) was to make maxing E first better which means you will need to spam E to clear camps

Gorgiolio1 votes

That change is actually extremely strong. I've played it a lot in the PBE. Being able to cast his Riptide almost every three seconds with an increased slow makes him clear even faster. You would only put a point into w now, not max it first. Considering you get blue buff whenever you really want, and have the ability to just rush frozen heart like I do you don't run out of mana.

Meep Man1 votes

Not really. With the new jungle item, it takes a decent bit less overall mana to kill a camp.

Gunpoint1 votes

If they wanted it to be a buff to Nautilus, they should have just kept his W as is, and buffed his E. It's not like he'll be gamebreaking strong if you left the damage on his W as is.

Nautilus will be fine, his change on E would not be a problem, you just need to build some mana item in second row. As his E gain extreme low CDR, you can basically build an Iceborn Gauntlet and crash into back row of enemy team. And this patch would actually dealt one of his major problem, that his damage is over-relyed on his W. I build Iceborn Gauntlet and I could simply spam E and send out auto attack and do tons of damage in mid-game. I even crashed a well build Darius with my equip. This is obviously a buff.

I honestly love this change, but we should all just admit. Nautilus is a very mana intensive champion and probably always will be. He just has so much god damn CC and tankiness (once built a little bit) it needs to be gated a little bit. Obviously I think it's too far like most of us do. I think he just needs slightly better base mana and mana/level or mp/5. Or there should be better ways of getting mana early game. Either way it doesn't do much to his early game I don't think. His early clearing's still gonna suck and he's still gonna get destroyed by people who walk into him. But 2 second E's is going to be very exciting

Heh, welcome to the house of Skarner where having mana is for the weak :p

I'm more on the wait and see side of things for the time being.

Better yet, change it to 50/55/60/65/70.
