Can someone explain to me why assassins are being nerfed?

First a quick review of the updates so far:

-Adc get a rework and a buff causing massive turmoil -Tanks get a rework and a buff causing massive turmoil when Juggernauts came out -Mages get a rework and a buff causing massive turmoil

So why are assassins being nerfed??

From what I have read the reason is to "extend" how long it takes them to kill you.

Ummmmmmmmm.........Did I miss a step here somewhere? You want to extend how long it takes for assassins to kill? Is this stupid or do I not understand? They have one job, to kill..................

That is like me going to supports and saying "we should extend how long it takes for them to heal their adcs, clicking a few buttons is not long enough."

Or better yet going, "those darn tanks are taking to much damage without dying we need to nerf how long it takes to kill them."

my favorite is "I don't like how adc's can kill me from far away, let's make them come in closer."

Reeallly stupid right?

Listen assassins are meant to kill squishy champions easily, that's their point, that's the whole reason we have them. Their entire kits are created to kill and that's all. They are not supports who can stun and heal. They are not tanks who can go into team fights and do massive damage and take as much. They are not adc's hiding in the back and killing easily. Their whole job is to go in as fast as possible, avoid all the cc in the game (which btw 90% of champions have and it counters assassin's hard as hell since all the tenacity put together doesn't amount to anything) and kill the squishy champions. Then try to get out without being crushed. They literally need to kill fast or they die. That's it. They go in, kill, or die. The end.

Am I missing something obvious?

They are increasing the time it takes to kill a target (which can mean it'll take you .5 seconds/ 1 seconds longer) but you get more utility and mobility to outplay with. It won't just be a nerf to assassins....

EDIT: Tanks =/= Juggernauts GODDAMNIT PEOPLE

That's what they say, what they are going to do is hit assassins hard like they always do and try to make them "balanced". Most assassins have been nerfed into the ground, that's why most of them aren't very good to use on higher elos. What more utility and mobility they already have that?

If a champion only provides damage (or only kills, in this case), then they'll be amazing or trash depending on if their last balance changes added or removed damage from their kit. This approach has already lead to assassins being in a bad balance position for years, where they get the nerf hammer as soon as they start to show up for too long, stay down for a long time, get buffed because they haven't seen play, and the cycle repeats.

If nothing else, it should mean Assassins yo-yo less.

Because it worked that well on ekko. Seriously there are 2 outcomes imo:

  1. Assassins are getting played as tanks/bruisers
  2. Assassins are not getting played at all

Marksmen are just way to effective against squishes right now, especially with apen builds. There is no point playing a squishy melee, if a ranged class can do exactly the same with less effort in a shorter time and is also far more effective against objectives and tanks.

Did you actually read riot's reasons for the rework? Or just what they were actually going to do without reading the reasoning behind it? They want to make assassin gameplay healthier make it feel less like there's no counterplay.

I read it and found it stupid. No counterplay? Nearly 90% of champions have cc to completely zone them and there isn't even any useable tenacity ingame for them to avoid the cc. What more counter play do you need? one stun, knock up/knock back, slow, root, etc. and they are done.

man u sounds like one of those guys that think just cause i play an assassin that i should be able to one shot anyone with the press of a button. That is unhealthy gameplay period. I dont know what game ur playing but 90% of champs do not have hard cc and i say hard cc cause soft cc does dick to assassins. What they are trying to do is make it so u have a chance (a slim one) to outplay or counter those assassins. The problem with them has always been that beating them has always relied more on their skill as a player than yours. I am a bit biased cause i think even assassins should have to work a bit for a kill not just dash/blink in kill and dash/blink out. They cannot have extreme mobility while retaining absurd damage.

Uh yeah if you got assassinated and they got away free, that's your/your team's fault. You should have been sticking with your team. The fact that you got assassinated = you're either a squishy or had low health. Your fault for leaving your team.

If they dived into your team, your team can easily CC and kill them near instantly provided they're not fools.

well you just said it.Fools.Until u reach at least plat everybody plays like fools that point is exactly why they need nerfing. People wont save cc for them and ppl at least in most ranked games ive played refuse to play any sort of tank or even champs with cc at all.

Um, no. That's not the assassin's fault. That's those player's faults. They don't need nerfs, because people who ACTUALLY know how to play against them do just fine, and said assassins are generally weak at said high-level of play because people will stick together and deny said assassin a solo/squishy/low-health target their wanted easy kill.
