How are you supposed to practice rolls/champions you're not good with?

I know match making 'apparently' is adjusted for rolls and champions you're less familiar with, but tbh I always feel like I'm facing people of a similar skill anyway.

So I ask you, how are you supposed to practice with champions or rolls you're not very good at?

I'm currently trying to have atleast one or two champions I can do well with in every lane, (I normally main support), but taking anyone I'm not used to in top lane or ANY ADC means I just get absolutely destroyed in lane. Not just lose a little, but lose such that after the first time I die, I feel like I can't practice anything but last hitting, and this happens every time I try.

I've practised against bots, and win easily every time, but I how do play against people of a similar skill on one roll when you're ELO is much higher in general? Currently i'm silver, but i'm probably a bronze when it comes to adc because they work nothing like the fighters/tanks I normally play, so how am I supposed to practice and get good by just being face rolled every time?

Any one else have this problem? Or should I just stick to the same champions in the same rolls, because however I try to play different ones, you can't practice against people of similar ability that you are with champion x. You have to play people as if you're playing someone you're used to the mechanics of all the time, even when you're not.

Play really passive...

You comment that 'as soon as you die', then just don't die? Focus on last hitting and harassing when you can and experience some small trades and make notes of how much damage you take and how much you deal. Base whenever you're sort of low. I find that whenever I look at my health and think "maybe I should base" then for some reason (let's say I'm at 1450 gold and want a BF Sword) stay in lane, I die shortly thereafter. There are other times I see allies try to stay in lane when I know they have no business being there (I just burned my flash + heal to save my support who is now safely at our turret at 20hp, and she goes back to lane instead of basing! that sort of thing) and I just don't understand it. So my guess would be whenever you have any inclination to base, just DO IT.

Don't push the wave. Always last hit only in an unfamiliar role. That way at least you won't get ganked by the enemy jungler and can focus on the match up and learning the role without having to constantly maintain vision and look out for ganks. It also makes it easier for your jungler to gank for you, as you'll inevitably fall behind in lane when you're learning and will need the ganks.

I've gone in to some really bad match ups in my off roles and managed to not die for the entire laning phase. I'll get out cs'ed pretty significantly, but if I'm learning the role that isn't a huge concern. My team will carry me or they will lose. Rarely if ever do you have a game where you'll lose because you were out cs'd by 30% and otherwise everything was even. Team can blame you all they want for not applying any pressure, if you're 0-0-0 and your lane opponent is 0-0-0 and you have allies that are 0-4-1 and 1-3-0 etc... you're not the reason your team is losing (and if you're getting stuck in an off role your teammates really should be carrying as that means they got their role preferences).

Normals or teambuilder is a good place to start.

Yeah I have had this problem. For me, the key to finally starting to not suck at the other roles was to just buy a lot more pots. Yeah, they might harass you into having to use them all the time, but at least you don't find yourself half healthed after being in lane for 5 seconds and feel like you already have to either recall or stay and die. You can also buy lots of doran's items or that kind of thing.

Rolls are pretty impractical to play as you can see in the picture.
