Let's talk about Sightstone
A few months ago, there was a post (I think about the new trinket upgrades) where a red said they stopped building Sightstone on supports and instead just upgrades the yellow trinket. This prompted a reply from another red saying that they're a bad influence, which I wholeheartedly agreed with at the time. A couple months later (still a few months ago) I started upgrading my trinket every game because after doing it once I noticed you can put down the 3 max and then another. Then a couple months ago it suddenly dawned on me that that first red was right. Unless you want to get a sweeper, there's no good reason to buy a Sightstone!
Now Riot has already acknowledged that people aren't satisfied with Sightstone, and that they're not necessarily happy with it either. It's gold efficient, sure, but it's totally underwhelming, it feels like a trap, and for 250 gold you can get the same thing! But if they make Sightstone worth anything it will no longer be a support item, it will be an item ~~ Lee Sin~~ junglers use to dominate and they'll have to nerf it again. However, where there's a will, there's a way. So let's find solutions for this!
One solution I see is to only make it available to someone who buys a support item (spellthief, coin, relic and the upgrades), similar to how the jungle items are only available to someone who takes smite. Then you can give it different paths and buff it as much as you want. It could have really cool possibilities. However, this forces every support to buy and keep their support item, and I know I definitely like to sell my support item for full build.
Another way is to give it something very vision-related. For instance, if Sightstone placed invisible vision wards or raised the limit on how many of each type of ward you can place, suddenly it seems much more rewarding for supports, but not so much for anyone else. Because if anyone other than the sport really cared about vision, they'd buy the current Sightstone or at least upgrade their trinkets (seriously, why do you guys not upgrade your trinkets? I feel so paranoid the first 8 levels of the game, then immediately upgrade trinket no matter what role).
Anyone else have ideas? And no, "just let everyone build it" is not a real suggestion; if it were Riot would have already gone with it.
