Lets first agree on what a realistic and reasonable 100% crit build is. 15k gold is probably a bit high im thinking. A current crit adc is likely to be a combination of 2 zeal lines
2600 each. now obviously your going ham into crit if your building 100% crit so its not unreasonable to assume the player is going to build
. So 3 core items = 80% crit and costs 8600. This build hits 100% crit with 1200 gold for a zeal or 800 for a cloak depending on if your building for a 3 zeal or Reaver. That's only a cost of 9400 to 9800 to hit 100% crits.
New items? Lets see. IE gives double crit % and has 0% crit on it now. Given that you directly address it in your post its safe to assume its getting built. However the passive is at 15% true damage. 3700 gold. now we need to hit 50% off other items for that 100% So we need at least 1 zeal item, 2900 for 3 and 2800 for PD lets go the 100$ cheaper route with PD and thats 6500. To round it out we need 1300 zeal (
no longer has any items that use it so I removed it as an option). 7800.
That's not 5.5k gold mate. its 2k in a worst case. Its 1,500 best case. The new crit changes. Adcs come on line after 2-3 items, those items require more time to build and provide less of a early power spike then old items. Still going to be strong late game champions but they don't get to enjoy being strong vs everything with only 2 items and don't spike of 1 with the build path spiking them up as much with each purchase.
Comparative cost of the two builds for this lower power spike?
Old. 2600 + 3400 = This realistically does more damage, cost less gold, 10% less likely to land a crit but is 20 % higher during the build path once
is purchased
New. 2800/2900 + 3700 less damage. 3700 needs to be completed for crit % to increase. Build path is worse due to cost of 2
Power spike is delayed.
When looking at items you don't just pick X fully built items and assume the champions power is going to come from that, how many non adc late game full build champions are Nightmares to deal with but actively not a problem in game because they rarely reach that point to to weaknesses in their kit or lane phase? Your math needs to account for the starting point and look at each step along the way. You can artificially inflate the gold gap between builds if you really want by claiming 100%... but your not looking for the cost efficient way to get there and then make the claim that there's a huge gap in the builds costs as you completely disregard wasted stats or useful stats in said builds. Going the
is going to give them CDR, AD, MP, its gonna waste 0 gold in Crit %. That 4 item build is going to provide 100% crits, an extra 50% crit damage, 140 AD. 30% cdr, and MP sustain on every attack. Going a 3rd zeal rout instead provides an extra AS, only loses 10% crit for wasted stats, is an extra passive, is higher AS and MS.
The new build, IE and 2 Zeal items.. its going to Waste 20% crit chance, its not providing CD, its only providing 80 AD. Its the same AS, same Crit %, same passives on zeal items, the crits are worth 50% less damage but have gain of 15% true damage. No CDR, No MP regin.
Put the two builds in a fight and on paper the 15k gold builds going to win every time. Full build new adcs should have an edge because they are not Pidgeon holed into build paths as badly but they also come online in the game later and their power spikes are weaker. Im fine with this.
Guess I should have been more specific.
Let people who cant do math in relation how the game will play leave, i'm ok with this.
