Y'know how the community would like to know the remaining cooldown on teammates' ultimates?
Spectator mode already has that exact feature, plus it has the cooldowns on their summoners as well. Why is this not in the game as well?

Because it'll let you know if your teammate just used their ult in a previous fight, or if its coming up soon.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out how this could be helpful, does it?
But premades already have that advantage
But you can write in chat, and to write "45 left" or something like that you need like what, 5 sec?
5 sec you could have spent doing something else, what if somebody jumps on you while you are typing? maybe you could have been csing if it's early game. and you cannot go back to type that, you will lose some exp and could also cause your team to lose a fight because they didn't know you were typing that.
The other team don't do that, they don't know each other ulti timers, and they engage and fail because don't know of each other ulti...I guess you get the nod, no? Of course you shouldn't write in chat while you are not safe, but that's obvious And premades have enemies matchmaking adjusted to make up for the advantage they have in communication
the problem of this proposal is that you are basically reducing a lot the value of comunication, which is frankly bad cause people that are willing to communicate and work as team should get these kind of advantages against players that go yolo alone, and with ulti timers would have even less reason to comunicate with the team
What about jungle timers that they added? That goes against the principal you espouse. How is this any different?
What about jungle timers that they added? That goes against the principal you espouse. How is this any different?
Jungle timers were added to make slain dragon a teamwork because of the importance of the new buffs, rather than a yolo jungler rushing it and taking it for the team grating buffs for the team and gold/experience for himself
So, it's rather the contrary of your reasoning, before a jungler wouldn't necessarily need to comunicate with the team to get dragon cause at certain point it symply stopped to be contested and became just a ginat amount of gold and experience available for the ones that were behind
P.S. And, if we want to tell all the truth, it was because people like some asking for ultimates here that wanted to use programs that gave them advantages like Curse Voice, and Riot had to make the decision of either leaving the situation like it was before, forcingCurse Voice to removing jungle timers, but leaving 1000 smaller programs they did not know about doing the same work, giving advantage to certain users, or avoid certain situations to repeat and making jungle timers common to everyone(and even know, you need vision of the slained buff to get the timer, which includes skill and comunication to at least ward all the other camps)
So you mean we should make people who go duo queue get an instant win against a team with 0 premades?

All I read hear was that you like the obvious advantage that you and your friends have in voice chat and don't want to lose it.

LOL. Usually when I play with my friends I don't join their voice chat cause my internet connection sucks and game start lagging so I prefer to avoid it, and I do not listen their calls so they have to write and ping me in the chat like if they were complete strangers
All I read was that you fant to favor the yolo mentality instead of communicate with mates, cause you consider them as people incapable to work together as a team. I have comunicated better in some games with strangers that were willing to ask than with my real life friends
Failing to see why this is an argument against...
They could make a line go around the circle until it fills instead of what we have, easy, doesn't take extra space and fixes the cumshot in 7 problems.
Im curious what you would do with that knowledge the lil green circle already tells you it is up or do you plan to go yolo right as its about to come up and expect me to do you a favor?

You don't know when it comes up. You just know it's going to eventually. It's like knowing it's going to rain exactly at 3 pm but not having a phone or watch to tell time. You would only have a guess based on your sense of time.
Little green circles aren't always accurate, as plenty of us have found in the past.
Have you never played this game with a premade before? The kind of thing like "My ult is up in 10 seconds" is REALLY good information to have. It's the kind of thing that you hear over voice chat all the time, but most people are too lazy to type out.
It is useful, but I still prefer communication I dont want others to take action just cuz they see a certain ult coming up soon
When people be like ult in 10, they are perfectly aware the current/soon situation would really benefit from it with every intent to use it and everyone outa brace for a follow up
It is useful, but I still prefer busy work.
Communication, meaningful communication, isn't teammates spitting numbers and stats at each other. It's making plans and figuring out the best way to handle a situation. The more useless typing someone (like me) has to do, the more vulnerable to being caught off guard and getting killed.
"Ezreal, when's your ult up?" "20s" "We'll go in when Ezreal's ult's up"
could be shortened to
"We'll go in when Ezreal's ult's up"
Simple, precise communication, with less time spent typing. Everyone on the team can see when Ezreal's ult is going to be up, and they can plan accordingly.
If I know that your ult will come up in a few seconds, I will take that few seconds to lead an engage (I tank/supp a lot), and expect you to use your ult when the time is right.
I like to believe that my teammates are not f***ing idiots is all.
There is no skill involved in tracking your teammate's ult timer lol. It is a matter of having time to type to ask or being in voice chat. Both of which are luxuries that you might not have at the moment you want to know it, but the enemy in voice chat might. I really don't think it would be UI cluttering/information overload if they just change the green dot a timer/circle that fills as it cooldowns. It would also make it clearer to new players what the green dot is actually for...
I know that personally I will still continue to say "ult in 10" when I plan to use my ult on cd just like I still say "drag in 30" when I want the team at dragon when it spawns because 90% of people don't give a shit about the timer.
Dude, I'm level thirty and have been playing for a couple years now, and I never knew what that green dot was for until now. So, yeah, changing it to reflect how long until an ally's ult is up would be really nice.
In Solo que no one would look at it anyway In Teams no one needs to look at it anyway.
Because that would take effort and it's not worth it unless a 3d party developer does it for them like curse voice or frosthave fixing their lackluster forums in the past.
They did it for jungle timers....
Which was due to pressure that it's an inherent advantage if someone doesn't have it when it was firstly provided from a 3d party program.
Same thing would be required for them to bother doing it with cooldowns.
cuz rito
I would like this as well. DotA2 sports this feature and it's very nice :P

Y'know, Dota 2 has a lot of cool features that League doesn't. Too bad I hate dota or I'd transfer over.

Yeah it's tough for me because I enjoy both games, but I love League's champions and there's a lot of other small things I like about League better as well. I won't go play DotA 2 all the time though just because it has a few features I think would be nice in League, but I do wish that Riot would implement them.
I am happy that League is coming out with more complex champions like Azir and Rek'sai though. Hope to see more intuitive ones in the future.
I always thought the green dot next to the champion icon was the indicator if your team-mates ults are up or not.
Up or not, yes.
Indicator that your allies ult would have been up in 5 seconds and you shouldn't have dashed in, no.
For once Riot developers make use of a good software programming practice you start bashing them! Come one, just an ignorant person doesn't know the importance of the Information Hiding principle when multiple elements are interacting!
Just write a getter method ("XXX, who long before your ulti?") to repeat 5x, then wait for them to reply with a not so accurate timer during a fight or siege, then proceed to broadcast your own not so accurate timer, then proceed to make decision! It's so simple!! Are you retard?
/sarcasm
Anyway, I too believe that this should be in the UI. You either hide if the ally has the ultimate available ( because it's a skill to track it down) or you show the timer too. Enemy ults on the other hand are not to be shown, as hiding the use of an ultimate is a strategic move, and you have no trustworthy access to that information.
Not sure how anyone could be against this. All it does is bring randoms closer up to par with those on voice chat. A timer on the green dot on the left, whether it be an actual number or a bar that moves around the green circle is simple. The only thing it will do is help people and reduce part of the advantage of those that use voice chat or game in the same room as each other.
I do hate having to type my ults cd
Even if they didn't have the exact number for the ult, why couldn't that circle slowly fill up, similar to how your own skills slowly fill in a clockwise fashion as the cooldown progresses?
Then I could glance at the circle, see its 50% full and know roughly how long it is until Malphites ult is up and to wait, or that it's about to be up so I can start preparing.
Heck, they could even just use a colour system.
red is 66% or more of cd remaining, orange tells you 33% remaining, yellow ult is almost up, and green their ult is ready.
There are lots of ways they could do it without it feeling cluttered.
You guys act like Riot is the idiot but when Curse Voice came out, this was one of the features perceived badly by the community telling Riot to ban people who used it for cheating along with buff timers but the ultimate timers was the bigger problem to everyone.
There is a thing called game chat for that One ask "ult timers?" and the other answer with 2-3 numbers, and you need exactly few seconds to do that. That is what is called communication in a team, and that's why it is an important value.

Sure, I could ask my teammates what their ult cooldowns are while delicately positioning around dragon and deciding when the best time to go in is. But why should I have to? Why can't I just know the remaining cooldowns on my own teammates ultimates? With your logic, we might as well not display teammates' life bars because you can just ask them how much health they have. After all it only takes a few seconds.

LOL That's a completely ridicoulous reasoning with a completely ridicoulous example. Why should you have to? Because you have to work as a freaking team and you have to work together. You could fight with your various ulti on CD, you are not forced to do that. If you are counting on someone ultimate to fight, then you ask, or if you know that your teammates count on your ulti to fight you should pro-actively inform them about your ulit CD. And you can do this while moving and not being in danger without putting you at any disadvantage You need the game to show your mates health bar, cause if you are a support or a CC dealer you must know istnatly who to protect and act and react accordingly. You don't need the game to give you any information to go completely yolo thinking your mates will do what you want cause their abilities are up and then complain and fail because you didn't coordiante each other and you write "omg n00b you had your ulti up why didn't you follow me pls report all"
At what point does the average player have enough information? Ult CD timers would be helpful, but might be pushing it.
Turning the green dot into a timer is not going to give too much information.
Because this takes away the skill needed to play the game. The moment they insert this and that other things will be demanded and it will just be a steep slope into shit.

There is no skill involved in being in voice chat and telling everyone "my ult up in 25s". And if you aren't in a premade the chances of getting everyone in voice chat or even getting them to respond in a reasonable time in game chat is luck of the draw and has nothing to do with skill your own personal skill at typing while playing.
There is no reason that giving ult timers on the green orbs would lead to anything else and there is already other MOBA games that have them.
Plus, there are those players who probably play without focusing on the chat or have people muted.
What necessary skills could ult timers possibly take away from the game?Would I not be able to CS or something?I suck at CSing now,ult timers won't fix or hurt that.
All ult timers would do is let you know when your teammates' ults are up.What you guys do then & how you use them is still up to you & your (real) necessary skill.
Here is an idea:
Make the green dot into a clock (IE, it fills up as the allies ult recharges).
And, when you mouse over it, you get to see the exact amount of time (in seconds) it has remaining.
