I mean, sure, I'd like a league hoodie, but I'd never pay that much for a hoodie. Not even Thinkgeek charges that much for their cool clothing items.

Actually, I don't have a problem with riot having expensive products. They're apparently high quality. It's a free market, so they can charge that much if they want to. However, it would be smart of them to make a cheaper line of hoodies for the cheap as mess dudes like me so they can sell more.

Actually, I don't have a problem with riot having expensive products. They're apparently high quality. It's a free market, so they can charge that much if they want to. However, it would be smart of them to make a cheaper line of hoodies for the cheap as mess dudes like me so they can sell more.

A Rioter said it on the main thread that they would do more cheaper hoodies 'cause many people pointed out that, while they look cool and are probably high quality (considering the price), it's still a bit much for a hoodie and most of us will prefer to buy cheaper hoodies more often and then buy a more expensive one from time to time.

So, with a billion dollars... I'll just put these questions like this:

Why can't there be an eastern server?
Why can't we have more contests? Can they be about something other than art? (this coming from an artist...)
Why can't you spare us a dollar and give us a tiny bit of RP (50-200 would be fine by me) for our birthdays or christmas? (that's once a year people)
Why doesn't the merchandise not at least have a grand opening 15% off sale or something?

And I'm not looking for a player to answer these questions. Players only give their opinions (as I do) but I'm not asking for opinions. I'm also not looking for these answers:

Don't they already make money from the RP? I mean, people will buy it regardless getting some once a year for free.

The servers are fine

Then why do we still have so many questions on why and how are the servers lagging? The West coast now has yet another server. The people over on the East coast don't have much, especially if they aren't around a strong internet connection.

People will abuse the free RP

How can you abuse this? You can't give it away. If you do have a smurf, you still have to go through the large amount of trouble just to be able to gift champions and skins. You'll have to restart everything. I for one would not want to restart considering the amount of time I'd have to give just to get even 50 of the cheapest champions.

There have been more contest that were not about art

How long ago? Since I've played LoL, I haven't seen any other type of contest (by Riot) that didn't have the players either draw pictures, a comic, or carve a pumpkin.

All your asking is for Riot to give you free stuff. Be grateful its a free to play game

I'm not asking for a completely free game. I won't even get everything for free. For each champion (except Zac, Azir, Gnar, and Kalista) there are 2 or more skins. That means there are over 240 skins in Riot's game. And even if they were to go on sale, the good ones always cost a lot. If I really wanted them, I'd be saving for years.

Riot has the freedom to make their prices however they want

But I also have the freedom to tell them it's a bad idea. They are supposedly even know rethinking their pricing on the hoodies.

Because it's in beta. This isn't an "official grand opening" of any sort. It's an early-access opening while they test the infrastructure.

So a really, really quick reminder. REVENUE is not the same as PROFIT. REVENUE (R) is money made over the course of a period of time, in this case a year. PROFIT (P) is what's left over after EXPENSES (E). R - E = P Honestly not trying to be condescending, just trying to make sure we all understand. Its really, really important to realize that a billion dollars made in a year does not translate to a billion dollars in their pockets. I'd really love to chime in on the rest of your questions, but you said you didn't want anything but Reds in on this.

That said, we also understand the need to have multiple price points in the store across our categories and will be building out the assortment over time to reflect that goal. We’ll been adding items that are less expensive, as well as items that more expensive as we build out the store. Moar to come.

My girlfriend has a smallish clothing company and their stuff is high quality and usually priced around the same. It's the fact that they are making a smaller run (means extra cost) and they are higher quality fabrics/stitching.

People are CONSTANTLY complaining to her company because their stuff is higher cost than "similar" stuff you find at Target. Except you know... for the fact that the quality is 50x crappier on Target clothing.

I can understand the complaints if these hoodies are super cheaply made and have cheap fabric/printing... But if the stuff is high quality, don't complain about the high price.

I can almost guarantee you that Riot is not just inflating the price a ton to make huge profits.

With all that said, people complain about the price of my girlfriend's clothing lines, yet the lines sell out completely... so apparently they aren't expensive enough if they are selling out.

THis is the start of their line though. You'd think they would lead in with a cheaper line and have a couple higher ones. THe shirts I see are understandable prices just not the hoodies. I looked at the thresh hoddie and while I love thresh its meh at best and gives a minor glow in the dark around a small portion. Its the minor things and the fact that they just started it that it kind of shocks me. You shouldn't only have higher quality pricey items, but something cheaper for people that just want to support them.

Think of Tesla Motors. They started with by far their most expensive offering, the Roadster. They then added the Model S, and are slowly adding more and more affordable models.

It really depends on the product and your demographic; in Tesla's case, they wanted to show that electric cars can be amazing. Their first offerings are best-in-class in basically every way imaginable, and this philosophy of excellence trickles down to cheaper models. For Riot, I presume they want to put their high quality foot forward and then bolster that with lower-priced alternatives.

Both are viable marketing models!

Something that is not low quality. Example with clothing:

Low Quality = Thin fabric, bad stitching, printing that fades/cracks/peels easily, itchy/uncomfortable fabric with low thread counts Quality = A bit less thin fabric, decent stitching, printing that lasts a bit longer, a bit comfier, higher thread counts High Quality = durable soft fabric, excellent stitching, printing that basically never fades/cracks/etc, highest thread counts

High Quality usually means more expensive process used to create. Higher cost materials, printing methods, stitching methods, etc...

In the end, it's up to the consumer to decide what they consider low or high quality, but in terms of cost... typically if the process to make it costs more, then the item is going to cost more for the consumer. Simple math.

Target clothing is super cheap to produce, and it's produced in mass quantities, making it cheap to manufacture and sell. You can buy a graphic t-shirt from Target, but good luck having that graphic look good after a few dozen washes. If you buy a "premium" shirt, you should assume you could wash it 200 times and the graphic printed would still look great.

I'm not saying everything labeled "high quality" is actually of high quality... (like the comment about HDMI cables) but the point is that it's up to you to decide if something is worth your money or not. If it's not worth the money, don't buy it. Wait for the price to drop or something.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad they came out with this, it gives me an idea of how much they're trying to rip me off elsewhere. But hey, riot knows that for most of you guys, this is the right price point for these products so on their end, I'd probably do the same.

You have to look at it like this. The lesser quantity they have, they have to sell a higher price to make money. Now if they were selling these by the shitloads every day and what not they would be cheap (in price) not as much as the cheap crappy clothes walmart sells but certainly not $65-$80.

lets compare walmart and a hobby store(magic-yugioh/etc) Walmart buys a shit load so they get it at a discount and sell it to us cheaper The hobby shop cant compete with Walmarts warehouse or on a global scale So they can't buy that much so they can't get a discount so the hobby shop sells their cards/etc a bit higher.

People bitch and moan about these hobby shops are to high but don't want to support the Venue they go to play in competitive tournaments where they can win prizes and get some sort of fame among the players....wait I think i went off track...what was the topic again?

... Have you ever actually shopped at a Buckle? Their clothes as a whole aren't scene/emo at all. It's kind of like "rocker" with an extra bucket of rhinestones.

Buckle's jeans are ridiculously high quality. Not all of them are ripped, and they last literally for years. I have a couple pairs I've had SINCE HIGH SCHOOL (I just graduated from college). They also repair jeans bought from them for free, for life.

I haven't bought there in a long time (Man, do those jeans last), but $200 seems like an exaggeration? I feel like their more expensive brands were about $150, with some cheaper jeans being closer to $70 (but still great quality with free repairs).

It's the same argument with the hoodies. Though honestly, I don't find them that attractive. The designs are too minimalistic. I want a hoodie COVERED with League goodness!

And, I can talk shit about them considering I've actually been to the ORIGINAL Buckle, unlike the vast majority of this forum :|.

Different experiences then, I guess. I've rarely had pants from other stores last up to heavy wear. As a sculptor, I have put my jeans through the ringer (though perhaps not as intense as weeks of camping and fistfights) and they've held up incredibly well. Not all the brands are skin-tight. It's fashionable for jeans (women's jeans, particularly) to be form-fitting, but the pairs I have don't even begin to match something like, say, Hot Topic's jeans. It may be a brand issue, too. Mine were Rock Revivals, and I had a pair of Guess jeans that held up really well (Until huge holes tore in the knees and I had to cut them into shorts. I still have them.)

I think the last hoodie I bought was $80. Quality costs money, and a lot of people are used to the generic Chinese-made Wal-Mart quality crap that you wear for a year before it fades or falls apart. Having a small production run also increaes the price, as was mentioned earlier. The main issue here is, with the store being beta, Riot hasn't clearly communicated what sort of quality these hoodies are on the storefront itself so we don't really know what we're paying for.

This is about what a lot of companies charge for good quality hoodies. So it really depends on the quality. If they're good quality, have a long lifespan, and are relatively warm... then I'd be perfectly happy paying 70-80 dollars for a hoodie. Hell I paid ~100 for one from Jinx once, and was perfectly happy with the purchase because it looks awesome, had a pretty good lifespan, and suited my purposes for what I needed at the time.

The ThinkGeek hoodies are terrible, from everything I've heard. Their shirts are usually pretty good, but their hoodies just don't stand up from what I've seen and heard... so it's a damned good thing they charge less for them ;)

hoodies should cost around 30-40 after the labor costs/percentage the company that makes them for you... riots jacking up the prices because they hate making sales for the less wealthy players.

I'm not spending over 35 for any piece of clothing outside of shoes for my kitchen (anti slip generally around 80-120 for a pair of good quality shoes that will last 2~ years with the minor cost of replacing insouls) or a necklace/bracelet/earrings i buy for my girlfriend.

Well that dates you right there. You're not old enough to have a 'real' job, because work clothes cost 65-110~ per article for most types of 'business casual' clothing, except very basic shirts.

And you're never getting married... because any suit you buy is going to be at least a few hundred dollars... sorry.

Not to mention you must not live in a place that gets cold... because if you want to get a warm winter jacket for an adult, you're looking at AT LEAST 75 bucks for a good quality one that will actually keep you warm.

On the plus side, I can be confident you'll never come to Canada at least, so I won't have to deal with you in person.
