Okay first of all, that W change is a blatent attempt to put Leona in the jungle.

I agree with putting her in the jungle, but this is literally the dumbest way to go about it. She doesnt need added survival to clear camps, she already clears healthily as is. This W change serves no purpose PVP wise, so its obvious its purely a PvE change. The R nerf is totally offbase, Leona alrdy deals less damage than all other jungle tanks, and her current botlane peers(Alistar/Braum). Doesnt make sense to nerf her damage even more, after its already been eviscerated since Runes Reforged.

If you want to put her in the jungle, allow her Zenith Blade to drag her to large monsters. Mobility is the only thing keeping her from being a competitive jungler, NOT her clear health.

This is so bad looking Riot. You are nerfing a garbage tier champion.

The W change was not supposed to put her in the jungle. Like they stated in the patch notes, they wanted to add some small counter-mechanics in champion kits to make them more unique.

Leona didn't have many features in her kit that seperated her from other vanguards like Nautilus, Amumu, etc. She goes in, perma CCs as many targets as possible and hopes that her team can utilise that. Her bonus resistances didn't work differently than Nautilus shield, for example. Both reduce the damage they take, with the difference that the shield doesn't get affected by true damage as much as Leona's bonus resistances.

The addition of the flat damage reduction was supposed to make her a counter-pick for champions with multi-hit mechanics, like DoTs. Leona will take reduced damage from poison effects during her W.

Does this work out? I don't know yet. But that has been the intention, not to shove Leona in the jungle, but giving a niche to her that qualifies her being picked over other vanguards against specific team comps.

So they changed her W to be strong against what? Malzahar? Something shes never going to encounter, lol. Like what exactly is this useful against in the bottom lane? Zyra? thats about it. i understand how its suposed to work PVP wise, but theres nothing in the bot lane for it to work on. Nothing to make it relevant atleast. Besides M MAYBE Zyra.

Some people tend to pick champions not only to counter pick their enemy laner, but to provide for their team what is needed.

For example, if my team is lacking a proper frontline, I am playing top lane and the enemy team picked 4 AP champions + an AD top laner, then I will likely pick (for example) something like Dr. Mundo.

While Dr. Mundo does not intrinsically provide an advantage for myself in lane against an AD top laner, he will prove useful later on in the team fighting scenario. I can provide a frontline able to withstand quite some damage and Dr. Mundo's MR stacking mechanic on E actually makes me way tankier against their overall team in a team fighting situation.

Just because Leona might not encounter many DoT champions in the bot lane does not mean that this mechanic couldn't prove useful for her over the entire course of a game. For example, if the enemy picks stuff like Cassiopeia mid and Teemo/Singed top lane, then having a Leona to withstand their DoT damages in a team fight could prove useful. Especially since Leona is supposed to engage for her team in a team fighting situation and has to survive quite some damage from the entire enemy team, not just the enemy bot lane.

Okay change the W, whatever. Why nerf her R? She does no damage, with the R nerf she really REALLY does no damage. Now if they compensated with a buff to Sunlight, that'd be fine. But they arent compensating her in anyway, they are just making her a more unviable bot lane support, and in exchange now she can step on Teemo Mushrooms and they hurt less? Nah, im sorry. Stupid change, its biggest use is for clearing raptors and gromps, sumthing she doesnt need help with to begin with.
