"___ is OP, brainless and has no counterplay!"

If they are OP AND Require no skill AND have no counterplay. Please, do go play them, and climb to master tier. We are all waiting. Heck, if the champion has just 2 of these attributes you should be able to climb at least a few tiers with them.

Honestly half the people who complain like this are of one of three camps.

  1. They have never played the champ, they haven't tried to learn the champ, and the champ counters them or has counterplay they aren't willing to utilize.

  2. They have learned some of the champ, but have lost more than a few games against them and insist that they are brainless and OP by listing all of the champ's traits in an exaggerated manner and in a vacuum.

  3. They are talking about Yasuo or Vayne.

The other half are talking about Zed or Annie.

Climbing is really about luck more than anything else. Doesn't matter how broken a champion is, you cannot carry a team that feeds a kill per minute with any champ, no matter how broken.

Don't get me wrong, skill does play a part in climbing but not as much as some people would believe. I'd say it's 45% skill and 55% luck.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDvr08sCPOc It's like this: 10% ping 20% skill 15% concentrated power of windwall 5% strategy 50% champ select

and 100% reason I am still in bronze.

that whole argument stems from counterpicks and their potency.

lest take Rammus as an example.

cant touch Lissandra in any situation whatsoever, just loses on champion selection.

however the reverse is also true. MissFortune has nearly no hope against rammus.

riot likes to promote "every champion can win with skill" but thats nonsense. there are unwinnable situations, they do exist, and any slight lead results in it.

"but zed only beats karthus 60% of the time! see!, its not that bad!" - you have 4 other team mates/laners to worry about, not just the mid lane matchup and they have the power to influence what goes on in that mid lane. it wont just be 10-0 zed at your inhib with karthus 4 levels and 2 items down.

The actual, logical argument behind this (which no one ever actually says because it's too long) is:

  1. The champion is (significantly) stronger than other champions at an equivalent skill level.
  2. The champion has a forgiving skillset that allows them to recover from their mistakes too easily.
  3. The champion is a very strong counter to other champions, so that the player needs much less skill to beat those champions than those champions' players need to have a chance.

Of course, every champion requires some skill / experience with them to be effective. The complaint is actually that the champion performs significantly better even with less skill / experience than other champions.

So, people don't want to just go and play them because:

  1. They would still need to practice and get experience to be able to play the champion at a decent level (even if a decent level for that champion is stronger than a high level on a different champion); and
  2. I think a lot of people just want to play the champions that they enjoy playing (their mains / favourites / types of champions that appeal to them) and at least have a fair chance, even if some matchups may be the harder than others.

Only champs I'd really consider brainless by any stretch; Syndra's about to be removed from that list next patch.

The champions that create/negate pressure simply by existing, basically, whether its in lane or later in the game.

That hurts man...

Auto-wins most melee match-ups if you aren't being really stupid, and hard scales.

I'd call that pretty brainless pressure. Sorry. :/

But...

There's still optimal combo patterns to maximize bleed stacks. He also doesn't really hard scale unless he has passive proc'd, and that becomes more difficult as the game goes on, since you almost have to have your team donate kills unless your hitting a tank and can build stacks or you've gotten close enough to the carries. His win rate tends to go down substantially late game, and that's been the case for a while. Only reason that's changed, imo, is because of courage and ghost becoming common on him now. He gets the best of everything.

I feel like if people just waited lane out half the time, he wouldn't get half the flak he does.

Whoa whoa whoa... Illoai? What you mean to say is only brainless people lose to her. She has so much counterplay she literally tells you it in her dialogue.

WoonStruck1 votes

Yes, there's so much counterplay to her hitting R and healing 50% health on every ability in teamfights.

There's definitely no diamond top laners complaining about how laning against her is so binary and so stat-check as melee that its often impossible to deal with her despite the ability to kite her and avoid Q/E. :^)
