Is spellthief's edge really worth taking over ancient coin?

Even on mage supports who could use the ap, I think coin is probably better because it's so much easier to get the quest done and start being able to place wards. Am I wrong on this? Please tell me if I am, I'll be the first to admit that I'm bronze and don't know how the game works.

I personally don't think so. You must be dominant to to make it work better than coin.

Edge is only worth taking over Coin if you intend to heavily solo split push to towers.
