PSA: Taliyah is not a strong support.

Think of Taliyah like Nunu, both contribute a lot to their team and have numerous supportive aspects but they aren't very strong full out supports. They both require gold to be effective and because they don't have the same level of utility or strong base damages as other champions that go into support role. Unless you feel very confident in your ability to harass the enemy champions out of lane as Taliyah support, or to secure kills with a full AP build then I recommend not playing it. You often provide little peel for adc early game and not enough hard CC. By mid-game unless you built a significant advantage you won't have high damage output and will pretty much be gated by your Weaver's Wall and Seismic Shove cooldown.

And yes. I get tilted everytime I see Taliyah support, if it's on the enemy team I've been able to punish it severely and basically make the game a 5v3 cause the enemy bot lane just falls way too far behind. If it's on my team I try my best to play around it but often it just doesn't work out, especially if you don't have a champion that can really compliment the playstyle whilst ignoring the other enemy champion in lane.

Nunu support is no joke, can confirm.

But you're usually better off with a true support. Unless your carry is Vayne. Nunu will fuck some teams up with a good Vayne.

Taliyah support is a ranged Blitzcrank. You only put 1 point in Q on level 1, then max E and just focus on shoving people into your mine field. It's an amazing burst that sets up your carry for tons of easy kills. In addition, the number of dashes each game makes her E a very strong anti-mobility tool while her R can easily punish the enemy bot lane for burning their flashes.

She used to be a garbage support until her W became a vector cast. Now she's insane because you no longer have to lay out the mine field before attempting to shove and can perform the action instantaneously. Her shove is also an amazing peel, and her mine field is a great tool for slowing and zoning.

All supports play differently. If you have a Taliyah/Blitzcrank/Annie support you need to know the amount of protection they can give you is limited, and they won't be able to save you if you get completely caught out of position. Taliyah as a champion takes a lot of game experience to become a good pick as you have to land your W consistently to be useful with her. If you fail to peel with your W either you or your carry will die. If you can't "hook" someone with your W then you're not going to have any pressure as you quickly run out of ground to work with in the lane for her Q.

Tl;DR: Taliyah support is a Blitzcrank-type of support, she just takes skill. Her W is super strong and most people don't realize the insane range it has or how much damage you take from being shoved into a minefield (ADCs lose almost half their health on level 5).

Unless as a thresh counter.

he hits Q on ADC. You activate W as Taliyah and your ADC one shots Thresh after he activates Q.

GG But that is the ONLY real situation where I would play it...or the fact that her Q poke isnt bad with a larger lane.

Then you clearly haven't faced one who knew what they were doing. If they went Spellthief as starter, then they're clueless. Ancient Coin is essential for her to have sustain.

The only AP item you need is Rylais. Combine that with her Q movespeed, Swifties, Talisman of Ascension, and the slow from Rylais and you have a permaslowing machine.

I have lol, an enemy Taliyah I went up against was pretty good, went 3/0 in lane before 15 minutes BUT It's Taliyah support so. The adc didn't do to well when my team engaged and she didn't have enough gold to finish any big items yet even though she was 3/0. Permaslow isn't that big a deal if you get one shot because you're squishy AF and if you decide to go tanky well now you're just a wall/knockback bot.

Having the Support do well but the ADC doing poorly isn't very possible with common sense and decent teamwork. Getting 3 kills would mean putting someone else behind, meaning other teammates can catch up and excel. It makes little to no sense. Going 3/0 before 15 minutes would allow her to explode the opposing ADC and pressure the enemy Jungle to no end. That is unless she has no clue what she's doing.

Score isn't everything. How much damage did she do? Did she play optimally by placing wards? Did she poke? Did she consistently land her E W? All of this has to be known in order to show if she knew what she was doing. I can go 5/0 in 6 minutes, but if I suddenly stop pressuring and stand behind my ADC, it's not going to help anyone, especially not for my ADC.

Simple answer is yes to all of those, the Taliyah player played well and did all of those thing in lane which brought up the advantage. The adc did just decent. 0/0/3 pretty nice but not exactly a ton of gold above our own team, like just half an item and full boots if I recall correctly. I know good players in my elo when I see them lol. She could not effectly peel for her team and only made one huge play with her ultimate, afterwards when we saw her off try to go for em we bumrushed their team right away. When she was with her team her damage was very much so below our own carries. Our legit support (Karma) was able to shield and speed up our team so her poke didn't even matter. When we grouped and she moved up our mid laner just dropped her (Syndra). And I'm pretty sure any other mid laner would do the same at any SUPPORT going up aggressively to poke without tools that let her too. Also, as I said before her poke was weak. She did decent damage to out bottom lane in teamfights when she had the chance but aside from nothing else. Look, maybe if you play Taliyah support in low elo where it doesn't matter sure you can go off. However against players who know how to play the game a bit, literally just Silver. Should be able to shut Taliyah down.

You could literally tell me the exact same shmick with any of champion played as support, Yorick, Viktor, Syndra, Xerath etc. Most of the game will play out similarly. However all these champions are better played as support when compared to Taliyah if you ask me. Taliyah's utility is gold dependent, that is why she is weakkk.

Well, I main her in Support and Jungle and mostly play as her. I still consistently win in high Plat. Maybe it's just that I've been facing bad players for the past 120 games, but I can conclude that she isn't a bad Support like most people make her out to be. Just undiscovered like she always was until people decided to whine than learn.

Is it just me that look at other people who want mages in the support role but still want them doing the same damage. As if they were mid and look at them as if they are stupid

rtbf761092711 votes

Also since her wall is a straight line from her, it makes it so she cant wall off anyone without a flank. ie roaming up or down from mid

LordGeovanni1 votes

it isnt that hard considering you should be standing next to a wall anyway to run away if get engaged on or ganked also you can wall from the inside of lane and make the enemy run toward the river if you are ahead and you can do it to run them right into your jungler

I can see Taliyah support good against tanky engage supports, but against poky backliners? Yeah she's gonna be a huge joke.

Even Annie and Lux would've been more threatening mainly because their damage can't be minion blocked.

if the adc is smart enough to use a 25% -45% attack speed buff and know that the enemy is also getting a 25% attack speed slow in 2 instances. Nunu would be considered broken but people dont credit subtle thats why taric lost an aoe armor buff and an ultimate that buffed all his allies in an aoe. Sona has these same qualities but the diffrences is they are colored so they are obvious to your allies so they notice them and sona is considered broken by a good many of the community. Its literally its shiny so it must by good. Are we daft simple children. This game is pg 13 and I would have noticed something like this when I was 7 or 8. This is also why adcs and mages have % movement speed built into their kit so it doesnt even matter if their base movement speed is 5 less than you who are melee they have 16% bonus movement speed and 400-600 more range than you to do damage in you can they can kite while you cant at all if you are melee just hope you a dash. you cant get to them unless you are an assassin who can build the same items they can so you can end up with the same or more movement speed than them

I think you mostly find people not noticing things in lower ELOs
