Becoming Disinterested

I can't remember when I last had a close game, or saw a fantastic comeback, from my team or the enemy's. It's either one extreme or the other. There aren't any games where I'm at the edge of my seat anymore, praying that the next team fight will decide a game. The games are over before they ever have a chance to begin.

The matchmaking system was supposed to be designed to create "fair" games in any elo, and pair us with players of equal skill. Now something doesn't feel right anymore. Snowballing is out of control.

Typically by 15 minutes now I can predict whether a game is a win or lose situation. There are never any great comebacks this season for me. --- And I'm getting bored and disinterested in the game. It's stagnant and stale now. There's no climax... There aren't any slow games where everyone chills for 15 or 20 minutes in lane anymore, grabs their farm, and then the epic battles ensue for another 10 to 15 minutes. Now it's just quick games where someone has snowballed at 10 minutes, and the game's over by 20-25. Over, and over again. Every fight determined by the one player that has 20 kills at 20 minutes. --- Then it's back to queuing up again to do it all over again.

Entertain me, Riot? What extrinsic reward system will you come out next to keep us fighting over? Because the rank and honor system just isn't doing it for me anymore. I want my 40-minute games again, win or lose. And I want them NOW!!!

It feels bad because damage is so high it's not even engaging anymore.

Epic teamfights are a thing of the past.

The problem is, the matchmaking can't match people of equal skill because there is no skill in the game anymore. Pick broken champ, pray you have a jungler/botlane and then coinflip.

I don't think there is a problem with 25-30min games, as long as the team fights and trades felt fair leading up to the victory or defeat. It seems like most of us lack the knowledge of correct itemization, or the items that are in the game currently do not offset the difficulties of certain matchups. Most games people are stomped or zoned out of lane, and that is why the game is over inside the 10-15min mark.

I feel like games are more objective now and I have no fun playing most of the time :(

I have to agree with you 100%. I played in season two and only now came back, game is a lot worse now. I can't even remember last time I have seen decent comeback. Matchamking is garbage. Just had a game where highest rank in my team was silver 3. Meanwhile enemy had gold 1 ADC who ended game in 22 mins with score 19/1/2.

Personally I could live with the shorter games, if they fixed the snowball and made comebacks possible again. I had ONE comeback early in the season and it was so intense, it felt like 45-50 min game, but it was only 27. So the feel of the comeback is possible in a high damage short game meta, they just need to fix the snowball.

The only thing keeping me around was the chest system and my personal goal to get all the possible chests in a season (did it last season) but with shorter games and mistakes being punished harder, I just can't get S in a reasonable amount of games on half the champs I did last season, so GJ riot, you destroyed the only thing keeping me addicted lols.

I'll keep checking in to see if I should come back, but I'll probably only come back for URF, if that.

Yeah I can't stand the ff@15 mentality or having people ready to give up at 15 mins. It makes the game unfun for everyone. Not only for people that are losing but for people that want to spend the time to practice their late game outside of bots.

I'm not saying it's the people that make the game less fun (although for some that might be the reason) but I think the having the option to surrender so early gives people the idea that "it's not a big deal this game is a stomp and I'm certain all my teammates will surrender at 15"

*surrender vote fails with 4/1"

"Wow fuck my inting teammates and 9x my Yasuo thinking this game is winnable!"

I think if players actually had the balls to surpass 20 mins then maybe we'd see more fun come back stories. Players only want good comebacks when the enemy team fails not when they know they're behind. And that's not a good trait to have, knowing that you're enemy team is 'throwing' and take advantage of that fact. It creates players that are "Wow their player is so bad in this aspect, let's abuse it." which in turn translate into people becoming more, "Wow you're so bad and none the faults are on me. It's you that's bad."
