Ranked Games and offrole picks...

[I'm going to use this thread in my lobbies so people hopefully are considerate].

Explain before you do them.

Yes, recently I was in a game when someone locked in a very very unviable pick in ranked in terms of their lane. I was inside my promotions so I could not dodge. I also want my LeaverBuster timer to reach 5 minutes in the next few months rather than its current state of 20 minutes.

I do not mind an offrole pick like Fiddlesticks mid, but when you go to a completely offrole pick — it is tilting.

Let's say you went Fiddlesticks top. I am not tilted by the champion but what the champion is taking away with you GOING TOP. We are losing a tank and teamfight potential. We are at risk at being squishy.

Please explain why you took such a strong detour prior to actually locking in.

They don't give you the time in the lobby and chances are they are just trolling and are idiots.

How are you losing teamfight potential with Fiddle top? How is it different from Kennen top? Or Swain? Or Rumble?

Fiddle is squishy and falls off late game because his damage can be easily mitigated. His ultimate is a blink but people can easily predict it and lifesteal it up. Items help champions shutdown Fiddle's utility, E.G. QSS.

Toplane is typically where tanks would lie. Usually, you would only find a support and top laner being a tank/bruiser. The jungler would be a bruiser or an assassin. Say the jungler picked an assassin? Now that top is fiddle, your only tank is support. What happens? Your team can easily be bursted down.

Now you can say what-ifs etc. but traditionally, who will be expected to peel? Top and support. The other team can easily take advantage of this discrepancy and you lost teamfight potential. You lost survivability.

It's different from Kennen, Swain, and Rumble as these champions can actually survive longer and serve their purpose. Other than Rumble, they have more CC and Rumble outputs more damage and peel. You can say QSS also stops their CC here, but they can quickly recast their CC abilities much faster than Fiddle's ultimate.

You dont always need a tank. Fiddle can build lots of hp and stay ver relevant. New abyssal+Rylaia+liandrys gives him so much team presence. But regardless team comps are for pro play. In solo que its ALWAYS better to pick what you play best than what fits team comp. There is no "off role" anymore, those times are gone. U have GP, Teemo, Kennen, Rumble, Heimer, Yasuo top and more. Some even bring adcs top. Same way u have Miss fortune, Brand, Camille, Kennen and more on support role. Ziggs on adc. Shield supports on mid... We arent in s3 anymore

"You dont always need a tank. "

I did say I'm not considering what-if scenarios. Yes, you do not need tanks but HP is not a resistance. You're just a damage soaker.

And off roles still exists. Hence Riot bans people if they fail to discuss completely out of context picks without communication with their teammates. You clearly haven't seen major dilemmas where this issue occurrs[Nunu support, Singed smite support, and other Riot threads targeting the issue].

Don't compare mage supports to complete offrole picks. I clearly stated picks that are completely irregular need communication. Those supports you listed and Ziggs ADC are champions the community has abused due to Riot's items and poor decisions that affected botlane. In addition, mage supports are quite common now. These are METAs you are indicating.

"GP, Teemo, Kennen, Rumble, Heimer, Yasuo top and more" These are considered lane bullies. However, they don't fall off as hard late game due to their utility. Comparing Fiddle with Teemo, Fiddle would not be able to duel an ADC while a Teemo could still shut one down even if they built resistances. Why? Because Teemo's kit can be relocated to other targets.

"Some even bring adcs top" Vayne top? Lucian top? Those do not have very high winrates. They trade DPS for less utility and more damage. Their early games are actually quite easy to beat one-on-one with most toplaners and lane bullies as well.

You make scenarios seem common but really there's no basis on how common the scenarios you are giving are other than mage supports, MF support which is linked to LCS plays, and poor arguments that reference the meta. I am not talking about the meta.

in ranked people think to much about the individual champ rather than the team aspect. They play whats fun rather than whats "good" . either way, countless times Ive seen people pick meta picks and even counter the enemy in lane but somehow manage to feed the champ they are supposed to counter. Its like a syndra losing lane to heimer. People are just mechanically imbalanced in ranked. [slayer-jinx-unamused]
