With new items, Karthus ult needs some sort of buff

I mean everyone has some sort of counter to it now it seems. There's a stupid amount of shields in the game, and now with new items like Edge of Night..

And yet his ultimate is still a whopping 200/180/160 base CD?

Seems a bit lengthy for something so easily countered..

What is the adc counter?

The new assassin item and/or Maw

neither are super optimal for adcs but when there's a karth they'll be worth

I honestly can't see building the new assassin item on adc over some much more valuable items. Lethality is nothing shy of useless on adc now and OOC move speed/trying to predict a spell every 30 sec, isnt worth giving up the crit or lifesteal you could get from mercurial/bt/bf items

Hexdrinker/maw is kind of understandable but just by having karthus in the game, to build against him you have to decide if its worth it. You either have a build that can survive a karthus ult (sometimes) but is sub optimal, or the best build for your champion, and cant survive a karthus ult if youre under half health every 2 minutes. I could see where he's coming from but I dont think Edge is even worth mentioning here. Imo Karthus ult should do more dmg based on your missing health as an execute (would help against maw if used correctly), but I am not a professional balance member so thats just an idea.

Edge of Night for spellshield. Maw/Hexdrinker for magic damage shield. Your support healing/shielding you.

Yeah basically they'll just go Edge of Night. It gives AD AND MR so there's no reason not to get it for them.

Mercurial gives AD and MR, ADC doesnt buy it every game, you talk as if there arent better choices, and lethality is a terrible stat on adc so yes there is every reason not to get it, and that reason is that the meta is going to shift away from pen and back to crit. Armor pen was great for adc because you could get 20 armor pen, do nearly true dmg in lane to an enemy adc and snowball. Now it scales and that wont snowball an adc in lane. Getting increased AD and Crit however, will give you a huge advantage in mid game over someone having 20 lethality who get 12 armor pen that isnt going to blow up a squishy with just some ad and pen.
