Underloved Champions

What champions do you, well, champion that others look upon negatively? My number one answer is Garen. He lacks in CC (aside from his short silence), and he can be kited easily, but he's my go to option when my team needs a tank because his passive and W can make him nearly unkillable. Plus his E crits, so give him an IE and your enemies will be surprised by your damage output. I also think he's a good split-pusher with the Sunfire+E wave clear and his Q on towers, but people are always leaving me alone with their towers and so they must not agree.

I also can't believe it took Naut seeing play in the LCS for him to be brought to the attention of me and everyone else. You just didn't see him outside of the odd match before which is a crime. He's like if Leona and Thresh had a gargantuan, slow baby. So much CC. And his Q doubles as an escape maneuver and gap closer if you use it properly (still working on that myself). The first support I really fell in love with.

Those are just the first two to come to mind for me. Who do you think is under loved?

I've been playing Nautilus support before it appeared in LCS and I have a very high win rate with Nautilus. However I picked up Nautilus jungle after it was brought to attention in LCS.

Garen is an extremely strong pick and has the potential to be effectively utilized against certain LCS team comps if it weren't for the stubbornness of LCS players.

I'm surprised that Malzahar has not been played more often than it does, if it even has been picked. His silence CC is so ridiculously OP and he counters pretty much any of the current meta mid lane champions. cough Zed cough

Shhhhh, dont let Rito hear you, they are going to nerfwork him into the ground.

Yes. I still need to try him out. It'll be my luck that he'll be nerfed to hell before I get the chance. I was about to buy him, but I prioritized ADC over mid since I do already have some mid laners I love (Heimerdinger, Lissandra), but have yet to find even one ADC who really works well for me. So Graves it was.

I wouldn't say Kayle is under-loved. Her kit is extremely good. So, she gets pretty big nerfs when people figure out how to make her wtf roflstomp. Because of this, she goes through phases of high and low popularity. In a couple of months, someone else will figure out how to make her OP again, and her popularity will skyrocket.

garen can not replace an actual tank like nautilus or sejuani.

he lacks cc to initiate and peel. if played well however, he can be effective at bodyblocking skillshots like nid spears in siege scenarios. he can take a few hits, fall back to regenerate, and go back into the front. thats the only "tank" attribute you could give him really.

hes difficult to pull off, but if played and built correctly, he can be an effective bruiser.

just remember, always to go item 3143 over item 3068 every time. the slow on the active, and the better defensive stats are so much more worth than that extra little bit of magic damage from the sunfire aura. he needs the aoe slow to stick and keep people in spin range.

Like I said, I know his deficiencies. He's more of a just stand in front of everyone sort of tank. I just can't seem to get the hang of Maokai top, and while Malphite does more for your team, I'm just far better with Garen and so I tend not to go with him, at least not too often. I just pick Garen when my team refuses to pick anyone even remotely tanky and I know he'll be better than nothing.

But if I want a proper tank, I'll go jungle Amumu.

Oh, and I almost always build both Randuins and Sunfire. I go full tank generally, with the most I ever pick up for offense being Black Cleaver and/or Infinity Edge.

ugh. full tank garen is absolutely useless.

garen is nothing but damage and tankyness. if you take the damage away, he is nothing but a huge chunk of xp only good for his ult. check your damage dealt to champions after a game. with a build like that you end up dealing more magical damage from the ult than physical damage in total.

he needs at leats a cleaver and an infinity edge combined, to deal a noticable amount of damage.

if youre going to play him for that 1 button, you might aswell pick another champion, who does more by building straight tank. like voli for example.

I tend to win lane handily and get fed, so I don't usually have trouble dealing damage. And I do get the Cleaver/IE combo quite a bit too.

Garen is my personal favorite champion. He can easily carry is he gets ahead in the laning phase--his passive gives him tons of survivability and he puts out a high amount of damage with black cleaver and sunfire cape. If I need to go tanky, I'll get Mercury Treads and Randuin's Omen next. I also like to build Hexdrinker which gives him a nice bit of damage + magic resist, and builds into Maw of Malmortius later. If I want even more damage, I'd go for last whisper.

I think Jayce is one of the most underplayed and underloved champions in the game. I can't remember the last time I've seen him. I don't even like him but I still miss him. He probably got nerfed too many times.

Well, it's also single target and hard to land. Presses Q Runs towards someone Said person just runs away Garen retreats, a failure to Demecia That's why Teemo's a counter to him. He can easily run away while unloading on you at the same time. Luckily for me, nobody in bronze seems to understand how to properly counter me with Teemo. I'm 10-4 against him and don't think I truly lost lane in any of them, not even those 4 losses. One was a little rough, but it was closer to even than an outright lost lane.
