Riot's Preseason ranked is absolute crap

Riot, if you're going to allow ranked to continue and have it affect where you get placed once the season starts, do the soft reset first. My last 4 games in a row I've been playing against former diamonds and high plat players and getting the crap stomped out of me when my team has silver players.

I get that this means that we're all in "placement" matches, but this kind of match making is ridiculous. I've been playing this game since S1 and never have I see such a shoddy match making system in place. It makes the game toxic, and not fun to play.

Season 7 ranked hasnt started so they are doing a reset to give the system something to go on when it actually starts.

I get that this means that we're all in "placement" matches

Then stop complaining and play them. If you get it then you also understand complaining does nothing. Just take the opportunity to stomp on some silvers and solo carry.

Until you're the guy with a Bronze on your team who feeds all game. Some people just don't belong in the games they're being put in and it's painfully obvious.

Except they already did the hard one, completely wrecked seeding with placement matches having Diamonds and Challengers with Bronze and Silver (no really, that isn't an assumption, even Challenger players have complained about silver teammates).

Normally I go 7-3 at worst, and 9-1 at best in placements in previous years. This one I went 4/6 because of my bronze top laner against plat tops, and so on. You can get lucky and have the reverse, but that shouldn't be the hope for winning is you have the most diamond players in your bronze game.

They should have made the queue based off of the previous DQ, and there was no reason why it wasn't to be quite honest. It just effed up the ladder for Flex queue something fierce, making it even less attractive when solo queue comes out now.

I literally played a game with a Diamond 5 and a Bronze 4 in the same game, you can OP.GG me and check, that game had every single rank from Bronze to Diamond in it. That's not OK, that's not a soft reset. Diamonds do not play with Bronzes in a soft reset.

They set EVERYONE at 1200 mmr for the new Flex Queue and went "good luck".

No seriously, that is what they did. It wasn't a soft reset, because they didn't copy over the mmr from DQ from season 6 for no good reason. It is why you had stuff like previous silvers ending in silver 1 after 4/6 and previous challenger ending in bronze 5 after 10/0. Riot admitted it was terrible and are looking for a fix because they know it is terrible right now (they made a thread about it and saying they know the matchmaking it bad right now even for preseason).

Fucking kill me. That's the dumbest thing they could have done.

After reading that I think they need to just wipe the last weeks results off of the board and place everyone back at their place from last season. Flex Queue is Dynamic Queue just by another name. You could have not even done a reset and got a better result, since they are literally the same Queue.

I could understand if they wanted to hard reset Solo Queue, because frankly I don't really want someone who's a bronze solo player but played 5s with his Plat friends getting into my Solo Queue rank and having a massive amount of inertia holding him there for weeks but why does this matter in Flex Queue where rankings will be laughed at and it's literally a place for people to get boosted to rewards they don't deserve.

Something's up with matchmaking in normal games too. I am gold IV and I usually duo/trio with low silver players, but half my games have at least one platinum player in them, and the others usually have several high golds.

A lot of the time the platinum player will be on my team, so it will be a gold IV and a plat vs like all silvers or something. WTF Rito?

Preseason ranked is always crap. That's why they didn't have it for the first couple preseasons. Either suck it up and roll with the chaos, or hide out in normals for awhile.

(which is clearly what a lot of people are doing, because the skill variance in normals is in full preseason disparity right now Although watching the D3 in my last game poop on our S4 was actually pretty amusing.)

IT isn't the same as previous preseasons so stop saying stupid stuff like this.

They did a HARD reset for everyone, to the point that there have been challenger players going 10-0 and being put in bronze.

Why didn't they just pull the DQ mmr for placements?
The placements seem random as I've seen 10/ put in bronze 5 and 4/6 put in silver 1. It is all over the place
It won't matter come the soft reset when the season starts, because it will be so terrible by the time we get there with the seeding trying to half way normalize, that the placements for the normal season will still not put people in the proper spots (be it higher or lower).

Basically Flex queue is going to be even less attractive because of the hard reset, because it was a joke of matchmaking, that even Riot has admitted to how bad it is they are looking for a fix (there was a Red post thread about it, so it isn't just people whining. Even riot thinks it is bad.).

None of this changes the fact that the other preseasons were all crap. This may be somewhat different crap. And the degree of crap may be debatable. But the fact that it's crap doesn't reduce the crappiness of previous preseasons.

Also, solo/duo isn't getting the heavy reset. Just Flex. And even flex wasn't a truly full reset. And because everyone's swearing that they're only playing flex till solo/duo comes out, Riot probably doesn't care if matchmaking is terrible there, unless it turns out everyone was lying and keeps playing Flex later into the season.

Stop panicking. This isn't the death of LoL. It really just boils down to "yet another unbalanced wonky preseason."

You should try playing on OCE, we don't have the population to support this kind of bullshit. Even before Flex getting games with a 1 division difference (G3-P3) wasn't that uncommon, now if I queue up I get the rainbow, at least 1 bronze, 2 silvers, 2 golds and 1 plat, often I will get this with a Diamond. It's not going to even out any time soon either, when OCE rank started it was a shitshow for months on end, OCE does not have the population to average out quickly.

And even flex wasn't a truly full reset.

Based on personal experience and what I've heard from others, it was at least damn close.

This makes no sense, why hard reset the queue that's staying basically the exact same? You know I'd climb back to G1 in solo queue in a couple of weeks to a month depending on placements after a hard reset. It's easier to climb in solo queue because there's no 3/4/5 mans. What I don't want to see is a ton of boosted monkeys playing their placements then sitting a bit lower than the rank they got carried to but don't deserve last season.

If either of the queues need a hard reset it's solo queue.

The high level players don't want bronze teammates, and vice versa.

Hell I'm out of placements and I'm still getting terrible matchmaking. Like...the worst I have EVER seen in any preseason since I started playing. I'm getting anywhere from bronze 5 to plat after placements, and let me tell you...there is DICK you can do to carry when your top laner is bronze, and their lane opponent is plat, and the highest you have is an ex gold 4. Your top is gonna be butt blasted, and you can't even blame it on them, because what are they supposed to do as a bronze against a mid to high plat?
