Swain is dead! All hail Sprain.

I refuse to call this new champion which Rito has brought in Swain. Swain for me is dead. The new champion has nothing in common with Swain - Rito chose not to listen to its playing clientelle and brushed off any and all criticism for this rework by ignoring the complaints. And let's not point to that "survey" which we saw on Reddit. Anyone knowledgeable about survey and marketing science knows that such a "survey" if we can even call it that is not just badly designed but also misleading and unreliable.

This champion looks like someone did some nice graphic artwork of Malefoy and they decided to build the champion around that instead of respecting the champion that the players are familiar with. Rito lost not just Beatrice in this rework, but the play mechanics, the aesthetic and even the feel of the champion.

Swain is dead. This champion shall henceforth be known to me as Sprain. I have lost one of my favourite champions.

He still feels like Swain, just better. His old abilities were clunky and kind of bad, and when used together he was just stupidly over powered.

He was ugly to look at, and that wasn't suppose to be part of his character, but the art department at the time just couldn't make an intimidating old man, so they just went with ugly.

Now Riot has room for an ugly old champion who walks around with a hunched back and a cane, who is suppose to be ugly.

+1 Internets for you.

Some people like him, a lot of people are certainly happy that the old one is gone. But I was a mastery 7 old-Swain and Sprain just can't carry me like the old one. His waveclear is bad, his cooldowns are prohibitive, and his mana requirements are even higher than before with a less reliable passive proc to help anything about it. He feels, if anything, like a mage version of Graves now.

I think this version could be made good with some tweaks but out of the box...well, good thing I started mastering Laaaweee (Illaoi ) before this went down. ^_^

I think you made the right choice. In the meantime, I'll have to hunt around for a replacement - but I suspect it will be a while before I get a champ to replace Swain's spot in the roster.

There's no one like him. I'm quite sad myself. No one else had an AOE slow quite like Decrepify. That's probably why he's gone - fighters hated that spit with a passion - but I do think something unique was lost there.

Swain still has his ult. It's just on a time limit and has extra burst at the end. The rest is different. Yes I also thought he looks like Mr Malfoy. The rest of his kit is gone. The thing about him is he is still a cancer champion to play against. I'm banning him until he gets nerfed

As rebuilt, he is just going to be impossible to balance. He will have his moment in the sun (per Camille and Zoe) and then he will be nerfed into oblivion until his eventual rework.

Ok sure but why1 votes

His ult is literally just a shitty version of his old ult with Vlad's E at the end

If surveys are "misleading", then how is the "data" provided by players (which is totally different then a collection of the thoughts of players on the other site. Totally.) not misleading as well?

The nature of the survey was a web survey, which are notoriously unreliable. They can be skewed by one or two overzealous participants (signing in under multiple accounts, deleting cookies, etc.). Moreover, the answers provided by the question were not open-ended and were defined in such as way as to prevent any general criticism or valid feedback.

signing in under multiple accounts, deleting cookies, etc.

That’s not at all how Riot’s surveys work

True. But anyone with training in marketing or statistical sciences would know that such a method is an awful way of gathering actual player feedback.

It was my main ! My favorite skin was Bilgewater Swain, and they killed him.... Why ??? They could have just changed his spells and some little elements like for Urgot . But they only created a new character , younger and stronger... Now, he looks like a stupid brute. Before the rework, his advanced age showed us is experience and his intelligence. But instead of creating a new character, they called him Swain ...
