@ghostcrawler Don't blame urf if i quit when it goes away

Hammermancer··23 votes·7,858 views

i kinda stopped playing SR when nexus blitz hit, then went straight to urf...

I'm so sick of the rift, even the old rift was basically the same map

and if I want to play another moba just to get different modes? They all have basically sum's rift... hell even the 'innovative' ideas from HotS were all just SR variants

Can you make something that isn't just Base A vs Base B with 1-3 lanes? Like yeah Blitz was interesting because of how different it was and I really liked the items, and Urf was just me playing 10x more games then i really wanted to because I just wanted to play my main

Look I only really enjoy this game during RGM, specifically the ones with open champ rosters and fast paced itemization

because frankly I just want full build and duels, that's actually the only thing I want is to be at full power and to be fighting other players. Not everyone shares this mindset but I'm also not alone.

I've wanted an arena mode with 3 'weight' divisions forever, and I'm constantly bringing up to my friends how much I wish I could just be playing ranked ascension.. ***yeah I said it. Ranked fucking ascension *** And alongside that, I want to play any of those special PvE modes like star guardian or Oddysee, hell I loved it. My roots come from RTS, Fighting games, and Hack N Slash, but mostly HacknSlash and fighting games so those things scratched a big itch

I've wanted big procedural generated dungeons with like.. cool item drops and stuff forever. Yeah it's not diablo but even just a thin impression would be awesome.

but no, In a few days urf will run away, we'll get to play on the rift, maybe with dogs vs cats skins on ourminions

meh, that disinterests me, and not because of cats vs dogs.. I actually kinda like that, but because I'm so sick of the rift. The tryharding on the same map forever. The endless rotating metas that seem to be the same shit over and over.

Like seriously, go experiment.... and let us keep the game modes man. Just let me play my favorite game... with some variety

Honestly, if I quit when AURF goes away, it has nothing to do with the map. It has to do with the game being reduced to such a terrible state that it is nearly unplayable. AURF helps make the game fun again.

Yeah, I only come back around for URF. I'm still hoping that this small indie company will one day pool enough money together to bring Hexakill to the new client. Ranked means jack shit to me, because I'm not 10 years old playing Fortnite, and everything below LCS is just a swamp of meaningless colors. "Woah I'm Diamond" means as much to me as being the world's ten thousandth best fantasy football player. I'm here for the fun, and URF is just more fun than running another decade of try harding through the stress of meaningless rank.

I feel you, I don't mind rank attached to things but then again I never understood the entire point of having to delineate between ranked and norms since people who are more casually natured will just sit at a rank whereas people who are tryharding and good will climb

Oh, I would love if the game could be taken seriously. But as long as Riot's philosophy consists of making bad players feel like they are unbeatable in a handful of games by making hyper-mobile burst champions all that matters in the game then I have no real interest in the game. Hopefully some other company will make a game that actually takes strategy and skill again.

So... You want a MOBA to not be a MOBA? Something tells me that you are playing the wrong game genre then

"Massive online battle arena" Does not only encompass the dota format, there are gladiator games and special forces games

~source I was playing wcII B.Net edition on y2k boy, This format is nothing new, league didn't coin it, dota didn't coin it, Custom maps with individual unit control in RTS styled interface has been a thing since the 90's and that's all a moba is. Moba doesn't require the dota format, load up WCIII and go play and of the hero arena maps since they're probably still around. Or go play marine special forces in starcraft I or 2. Additionally there are things in Hack and slash games that haven't made it to mobas, like pve 'dungeons' for example just to pass time. Idunno man, There's no map editor in league. No modding, most games worth the time get mods except leauge.

The same game mode over and over grinds me down after a while even if i still want to play the game in some other format

that's what MOBA stands for, the LoL/DotA2/AoS/DotA/smite/etc format, ''multiplayer online battle arena'' not meaning anything is irrelevant ''rogue-like'' or ''rogue-lite'' doesn't mean anything either yet we know exactly about what kind of games we're talking when they're mentioned

Because the industry has homgenized and it's not really a secret that the only places that the gaming industry finds innovation anymore is on steam or out of nintendo's liquid LSD chugging dev teams

DrCyanide3 votes

It's not because the industry homogenized, it's because we need a better name than "Left vs Right" (which is literally what the StarCraft map that introduced me was called) to describe a game where you defend/attack the enemy base while NPC minions flow forward.

He has a point. What you've described wanting is playing hero characters in a non-MOBA setting. You weren't asking for a new take on the MOBA.

But again the arena format and battle royale format are things

And what do those other genres have to do with the MOBA genre? The fact that no one calls Fortnite or Call of Duty a MOBA should give you a clue that MOBA has a specific meaning, not that it's any game where multiple people duke it out.

actually when the term was first popularized games like CoD were getting called mobas quite frequently

truth is, a million things can be called mobas but the term has gone on to call league a moba and thinks of league when they think of mobas

meanwhile, Mobile Legends BANG BANG actually has a battle royale mode, which anyone watching would call a moba even though it's a last man standing teams mode

Id probably play that game a lot if it weren't for the fact that the company sucks at security and people get hacked constantly.

but the accounts are tied to your google store account... so like.. fuck that... also skins offer stats in that game, so i refuse to actually play it outside of a long train ride or something

so... you want league to be different just because you don't like SR? seems to me you are playing the wrong game

BEK Makadur3 votes

Dude... having more Variances in League wouldn´t make it a different Game. Smite has different modes, Dota has them and HotS does too. It´s just BS to me that League is reduced just to standard 5v5 summoners rift forever.

Hammermancer2 votes

thank you, someone gets what I'm coming at

the core mechanics, artstyle, and character roster are what make league what it is, All the side game modes... (Even nexus siege as much as i wasn't a fan) are league of legends

I'd like to do a ffa mode or 'squads' which means 3-5 teams of 2-3 players just duking it out somehow others want pure PvE and still other want battle royale

go play those games? once again... SEEMS TO ME YOU ARTE PLAYING THE WRONG GAME!

Seems to me that league shifted the focus of the game, matches, champ design, and itemization since 2012 when i started playing and supporting the company in part by purchasing skins and sharing my progress with others, bringing friends into the game, and talking about it.

Seems to me that a rather sizeable chunk of the playerbase loves league for the core mechanics and champ design but not for sum rift at all, the rules, or the win conditions of sum rift

I mean I get that 5v5 is the marketed iconic 'team mode', but that isn't all of league. Otherwise you're saying Aram, TT, Urf, Nexus Blitz, Ascension, Blood Moon, Project, Odyssea, Star Guardians, or anything else isn't leauge..... can you just understand that there aredifferent strokes for different folks and that people would be happier and the game would be better off if we had multiple modes?

I mean in CoD they have how many modes? And it's always jam packed and easy to get into a match. All of these modes are CoD even if the primary and popular mode is marketted as team deathmatch. Kill Confirmed, Point Capture, CtF, Hardcore, FFA are all respectable and commonly played modes

100%. They used fps concepts and created a new type of game. No denying that. Calling portal an FPS seems like quite the stretch, though.

I think it should be: You ban 4 champs and select yours before you even enter matchmaking

two quos, grouped and solo, grouped would be groups of 2/3/5 and solo would be singleton dudes with no friends, that way groups with team comps wouldn't be so busted

Can't agree more.

No one is quitting after Urf they just enjoyed Urf Mode so much going back to Rift is Lame, Boring, Annoying and OLD........

I am a player from Beta and RIFT was out the window to play a LONG LONG LONG time ago.

I only play the other modes and if they weren't around I would be gone too. I even stop or play less when there is a rotation mode like Nemesis or worse. Bad rotation modes. When Riot cries about creep I don't think they realize their champ updates should not really be their focus but their game modes.

I feel Riot says people leave after URF because they don't want to talk about the giant up tick when URF is available and then acknowledge that no one wants to go back to tired Rift after the rush of URF.

And URF was sooooo much more popular when you could pick the champ you wanted.

The Random given champ killed some of the fun.

I really am sick of being forced to chose between olaf, chogath, or yi in every match when I don't like any of those champions in theme or kit,

like I reroll yi, I reroll karthus, jax, I just want the champs I like

Ranked Ascension You want to get me playing without reverting Wukongs Q nerf?

... that is how. God I love Ascension. Sylas with Ascension would be absolutely nutty and so would the new Harvest (old DH barely worked in that mode ...)

They might be working on a certain 2-sided arena. A chamber if you will. With liquid rock around you. I hope so, pleassssseee Riot...

best acension champ in my eyes was Taric because a 20 story tall taric was amazing

otherwise Jayce Graves were my jam

Lovelle1 votes

Since Dominion is gone, Ascension is the next best thing for fast gameplay, nonstop fighting, and actual variety when it comes to champ selection and team comps. I don't know why Riot is so apprehensive about letting us play it though.

I've never had to wait longer than 30-50 secs for a game when it was around, even late at night. I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the most played RGMs aside from URF.
