Cait with Zhonya's is viable, almost as viable as Aatrox with a Manamune.

Cait with zhonya is nothing like aatrox with manamune. Merc's is better, but before that item existed, Zhonya's was actually an opt-in item for all ADCs. It's a great item to counter assassins like Zed or mages like syndra, or even Vi's CC. Granted that this item is a lot better on ADCs like corki and kogmaw who make use of the AP, I've seen Graves and Dravens carry with this item. QSS can't cleanse knock ups. This item can prevent them. Sure, the 2.5 stasis can be a downside if the enemy team manages to wipe your team in the meanwhile, but their main damage champions often cluster around you waiting to 1 hit burst you as soon as you come out. If your team has an AOE cc and casts it as soon as you come out, it can (and probably will) mean victory.

It's far from a standard item on ADCs, but it can actually work. The price reduction to 3k will help making this option more appealing.
