It´s difficult to see sense in some of Riot's balance changes. And in the lack of other changes.
Poppy getting supposedly power neutral changes, which were essentially nerfs under a fake name when she needed outright buffs.
Mundo, of all statchecks getting buffed. Imagine if Kayle had her ult duration doubled at all ranks with no compensation nerfs. Yeah, that´s how bad of a decision buffing Mundo was. He didn´t need more durability to go where he pleases, as stated in the patch notes. He needs a rework.
Waveclear mages not being dealt through giving them less ridiculously high and frequent amounts of CDR and Mana, but through nearly gutting the champions. Or rather, giving most mages Lissandra levels of costs and mana pool, without Liss' passive. Make them actually think about spending mana and not building a Tear/Lost Chapter and going Hulk Smash on their keyboard. On the same subject, why the hell does Lost Chapter exist, again?
Camille being an S tier top laner since maybe preseason. Look up the word overtuned on the dictionary and you´ll find Camille's splash art there instead of a description.
Kleptomancy being nerfed in all the wrong ways. Drop chance is not what should have been nerfed. Making all items unable to be sold and gutting the amount of gold Sly Sacks of Gold give you, because 110g for almost zero effort is pretty bs was the simplest, most efficient way you could´ve nerfed it.
Zoe's .25 nerf and Janna's -5 nerf. These two are pretty self-explanatory.
Literally all the recent Rageblade changes, instead of y'know, gutting Varus and increasing the item's cost by 200g. It´s honestly both sickening and sad to see Varus using Nashor's and Rageblade better than Kayle.
Conqueror's introduction, which solved near zero problems and created/perpetuated a whole lot more. Namely, shoving true damage everywhere. Wouldn´t %Max/Current HP physical/magical damage suffice? Or i dunno, more resistance reductions/penetration? Things ALL champions can actually itemize against? True damage needs to be unique to a subset of champions/items. It needs to be rare. It needs to be situational. You´re not gonna buy GW against a team with no healers, are you?
The existence of Fleet Footwork, Bone Plating and Chrysalis. The former just created the Warlord's Bloodlust problem all over again. Not having to itemize towards lifesteal is a huge mistake. Making the heal scale is even worse. Either just remove the keystone at this point, or make it champion based. No heals from minions, just a flat heal when you Energized AA an enemy champion. The last two are pretty self-explanatory. Do you want to not die, pick these two.
Nerfing TK support, top and jungle with E change, instead of just removing allied Devour and solidifying him as a top laner/jungler with other changes, such as still not allowing him to Devour large/epic monsters, but allowing at least large monsters to have Acquired Taste stacks applied, allowing them to be stunned with his Q. Or allowing large monsters to be devoured, but having a maximum damage set for them.
Doing nearly nothing to make Q max Sion more appealing over E max Sion.
The AP jungle item change, which did nothing to help mage junglers, considering most of them aren´t in need of their item getting changed and often go for blue buff first when possible, but rather need from simple number changes, to drastic, semi-rework changes. And if i´m not mistaken, mains feel free to correct me, Elise falls into the latter, not the former. And Diana isn´t even an actual champion right now, so giving her more AS will likely only help her mid lane. And even then it´ll be a slight help. Major emphasis on slight.
Oh, and the jungle changes themselves, which created the League of Crabs, when a simple, yet harsh XP nerf and faster respawn times would´ve sufficed. All everyone but junglers wanted was to not have overleveled junglers camping our ass with no drawbacks.
Then we have the ADC changes, which include, you guessed it, more true damage. Oh and a Yasuo passive. But i guess ADCs not being more reliable assassins with just IE+Shiv is the important part, right? Let´s completely forget how stuff like Yi, Trynd and Yasuo are gonna be like. I expect no less than an equivalent to the Singed/Newrelia hotfixes if they turn out as bad as most assume. Not this 8.12 nerf/buff stuff. Hotfixes. They need to be more frequent, in my opinion.
Now we have Fighter items which may well break top lane entirely. Again. And since Riot seems to be on this nostalgia feel with this whole bring back dead items stuff, give us what we want. Give us Zephyr.
And then there´s Pyke, which is another whole can of worms. A support for the autofilled with Darius/Urgot ults combined into a much more reliable one. Because this certainly isn´t going to create problems. I know variety is good, but there is such a thing as going too far. And Pyke, if he doesn´t qualify for the going too far part, comes pretty close to it.
TL;DR: All things considered, while Riot has done some good changes (Thanks for gutting Zoe BTW) this season, other changes, like the Poppy nerf and now, the Great Gutting of Stone ChildTM, make me question if they´re smoking and what the hell kind of weed are they smoking. And better yet, make me question where can i get some of it, because it HAS to be good.
