The fact that normals and ranked mmrs have literally no influence on each other is not a good idea. I played a ton of normals while I was getting good for ranked and getting runes, more champions etc. So I played league for almost a year before I seriously began to touch ranked. But then I get paired with people who have been played for two months. How is this fair?

Riot can't possibly know how long you play normals before going to ranked. Riot is Trying to be objective and make every one reach a certain point before playing ranked (I.E. 16 champions and level 30) Riot does not want to show favoritism towards people who spend more time in Normals than in ranked. And their are probably buckets of problem mixing MMRs between normal and ranked. And I'm pretty certain this is why we have Provisionals in the first place. To bridge the gap between Normal and Ranked.
Normals and Ranked can be two different things as well. Normals are used as a testing ground for non meta champs. Or if you just want to be off the wall. Another reason why the MMRs shouldn't be mixed.
