What if Thresh was changed to a melee champion?
Same attack range but his auto's were now treated as melee attacks?

People who can't be bothered to read tooltips would stop posting false bug reports regarding his interaction with Relic Shield.
That's about it.

Thresh doesnt execute though? All ranged champions get the effect of relic shields creep share, just not the execute...
Exactly.
Many people can't be bothered to read the first sentence of the item's tooltip and consider the lack of execute a bug.
It just looks like Thresh gets the execute because his E passive gives his auto attacks more dmg than any other ranged support champion, especially when fully charged.
The main issue tends to be people not realizing that Thresh's autoattack is ranged because it lacks a projectile (and has a different animation in melee-range).
I think they are.
They aren't.
Unnecessary buff, he is already pretty strong
Thresh is pretty booty right now and has been for a while. When he can compete with Zyra will be the day he can be called strong.

Id say 250~350 basic attack range would be pretty cool to have a "low range" champion. It would certainly be interesting, and thresh is probably one of the only support primaries in the game who makes for a fun solo laner.
Thresh is not really a viable solo laner outside of very low elo. And I don't mean as in it's just simply off-meta, it's just actually really bad.
There are plenty of supports who can solo lane well, off-meta or not, and are very fun:

....?
Thresh makes a fantastic AD bruiser.
. Hes a pretty stable laner with his E passive, and doesnt need a lot of damage to be effective. if you need more damage and less mobility you can replace deadmans for a sunfire.
Honestly wouldn't do much.
